"Hey Brent you ready to go to the zoo?" He smiles widely and nods his head quickly.
Ever since I've started dating Lucas, Brent and Lucas have become best friends. Brent loves him, so we're taking him to the zoo as one of the things we do together before he leaves and never comes back.
We get to the zoo and I unbuckle Brent from his car seat. I hold his hand as we walk to the spot we we're suppose to meet Lucas.
Brent spots Lucas.
"Lucasss." He stretches out Lucas's name.
"Brennntt." Lucas stretches out Brent's name saying it in the same tone Brent did, Lucas also opens his arms waiting for Brent to run in them. When he does Lucas picks his up and spins him around. He places Brent on his shoulders. I walk over to them and peck Lucas's lips.
"What am I chopped liver?" Lucas chuckles.
"Hi Brenda, like the nails." They were the white he requested
"Mhm... Ok Brent what do you want to see first?" I ask grabbing a map. He taps on his chin.
"I want to see the...'giraffes." I look at the map and we start heading towards the giraffes. Lucas is great with kids.
When we get there Lucas takes him off his shoulders and Brent runs closer to the animals. Lucas raps his arm around my neck. His phone dings and he takes it out reading it. His face falls.
"What is it?" He looks around, then shows me the text.
Aww that's so cute you ya girl and her brother, enjoy it while it lasts.
"Do you know who this is?" He scratches the back of his head and nods.
"Who is it then?"
See yo ass in two weeks, bring my princess Brenda along witchu.
"Lucas, who is it?" He sighs.
"Josh." I look at him.
"Josh, the new kid Josh, Josh at our school?" He nods just as Brent comes over.
"I wanna see the hippos." Lucas nods and puts him on his shoulders again. We walk towards the hippos.
"Hey look its Brett, HI BRETT." Brent yells and sure enough Brett turns around with his arm around a girl. They walk over to us.
"Hey guys, ok Megan this is my older sister Brenda my younger brother Brent and my sisters boyfriend Lucas."
We each wave when he says our names.
"Hi Megan are you my brothers girlfriend?" Brett asks confused.
"Yes Brent she is." Lucas puts him down on the ground.
"Brett are you gonna be over here for a minute." He nods.
"Great can you watch him for a minute while I talk to Lucas?" He nods and I pull Lucas over to the side,
"Are you going to take me with you?"
"No." He shakes his head looking at me.
"He said to, maybe we could work something out so you won't die."
"No I'm not bringing you."
"C'mon Lucas."
"No I'm not putting you in danger."
"Lucas."
"No I don't need him trying to pull nothing and take you and kill me, no end of discussion." I roll my eyes.
"Lucas I'm already in danger."
"Yeah and who's fault is it mine and I'm trying to fix it by keeping you away from him." His phone dings and he looks down.
And don't even think about not bringing her.
"See I told you, you have to bring me."
"Fuck him." I laugh.
"I win." I step closer to him and he wraps his arms around my waist.
"Yeah whatever but your my princess, not his."
"I know."
"Yeah all this is mine." He squeezes my ass and walks off toward Brent. I shake my head and walk towards them.
