"GUYS!"
Embry's voice tore through the rain-soaked clearing loud enough to shake the windows of Emily's house.
"We got a problem!"
The front door slammed open instantly.
Paul came out first already halfway through phasing, Jared right behind him while Sam appeared on the porch sharp-eyed and alert.
At the same time, crashing footsteps sounded from the treeline as Jacob and Quil emerged from the forest, fresh off patrol, soaked with rain and mud.
"What happened?" Sam demanded.
Embry pointed toward Johara.
Everyone turned.
Jo stood frozen in the middle of the clearing, chest still rising unevenly from what had just happened between her and Embry moments earlier. Rain clung to her curls and clothes while tension crackled visibly in the air around her.
Morning had come quietly.

The storm had weakened from violent rain to a cold steady drizzle that clung to skin and soaked through clothes without mercy. Mist curled through the towering evergreens surrounding Emily's house, drifting low across the forest floor while water dripped steadily from moss-covered branches overhead.
Jo abruptly dropped into a crouch and her palm slammed against the muddy earth.
Instantly the forest answered.
The wind shifted violently.
Rainwater rippled outward from beneath her hand.
And she saw.
The world disappeared around her.
The territory unfolded beneath her like roots spreading through the ground, every movement and heartbeat and threat pulsing through the earth straight into her mind.
