"Jo?! Johara wake up!"
Alice knelt in the middle of the busy street, shaking Jo by the shoulders as the girl came to.
Every muscle in Jo's body screamed in protest. It felt as though someone had reached inside her and wrung every ounce of strength from her bones. Even breathing was work.
The air around her felt... quieter.
Empty.
Like the sky had answered her call and took her energy as payment.
"Are you okay?" Alice asked, eyes wide with concern as Jo's eyes fluttered open.
She groaned, pushing herself into a sitting position.
"I'm fine," she grunted, her entire body aching, "Boy, rearranging the sky really takes it out of you."
Alice sighed in relief and helped the girl up.
Jo's head swam as she was hauled to her feet.
She must've passed out.
She looked up, seeing the sky clear once more.
"Is Edward okay?" She asked immediately, coming to her senses.
Alice nodded, putting her sunglasses back on.
"He's inside with Bella now. But we gotta hurry, Felix and Dimitri are almost there."
"Who?"
"Volturi guards."
Alice slipped her hand into her pocket and pulled out a power bar. She tore it open and handed it to Jo.
"Here. Eat up," she instructed, "You'll need your strength."
Alice frowned, brushing a strand of damp hair away from Jo's forehead.
