Lewis pulled up in the carpark of YogTowers, realising he hadn't even done up his seat belt in his hurry. He swung open the car door, dashed to the main doors of the building and swung them open.
The loud bang of the doors hitting the wall behind them echoed throughout the building.
As he turned a corner, he was met with Duncan running up to him, his eyes watering.
"Duncan what's wrong?!" Lewis exclaimed, he hadn't seen Duncan in a state like this since that night.
"It's Simon, his news, it's bad, I'm sure what's gonna happen, I don't know!" His words fell out of his mouth as he panicked.
"Dude calm down, speak slower."
"I can't!" He yelled, grabbed Lewis by the wrist and began walking back to Simon's office.
Duncan took a deep breath before slowly opening his door, trying to remain calm.
Simon was white as a ghost and had his head on the table, an email on his screen.
"Hey Si, can Lewis read the email?" Duncan said smoothly, placing his hand on Simon's back.
Simon nodded slightly, keeping his head on the desk as Lewis edged into the room. "Hey pal, let's see what this says... Dear Simon Lane blah blah blah... Seeing as the state of your gastrointestinal infection has worsened ect..." Lewis scanned through the words.
"With your consent we need to operate... OPERATE?!" Lewis jerked his head to Simon and Duncan, his jaw wide open.
"Yup." Duncan sighed, hugging Simon slightly.
"S-surely it's not that bad? It's just an operation! People have those all the time!" Lewis attempted to reason, his panicked words desperately trying to be rational.
"Yeah bu-" Duncan began before being cut off.
"But the operation might do more bad than good," Simon stated with his face blank. But, he turned to Lewis as his ryes began to water. "And I'm scared Lewis. I'm scared." His voice was broken. But not as broken as it made Lewis feel seeing his dearest friend like this. He never wanted to see Simon in such a state and to be honest, Lewis was scared too.
For a while the three stayed in silence, with a million things they wanted to say swirling around in their minds but no clue how to put it into words.
"L-lewis?" Duncan mumbled, turning his gaze to him.
He sighed. "Yes Dunc?"
"How's Hannah?..." He tried to start some form of conversation.
"Wha? Oh, she uh had the little one about an hour ago."
"Congratulations." Simon muttered, not moving his gaze from the desk. He knew.
"Thanks pal. It's a beautiful little girl if you were wondering." Lewis forced a smile.
"...you're gonna be a great dad." Duncan patted him on the back once before placing it back on Simon's back.
Simon sighed and lifted his head. Immediately, he shot a look at Lewis. "Hannah needs you. She's gonna try and push you away but Lewis don't let her." He said seriously.
"O-okay? Where's this coming from?"
"She can't bring up that girl alone. And if you won't help her-"
"I will Simon! Where's this coming from?!" Lewis was dumbfounded and almost, almost angry that Simon felt the need to say this.
Duncan stood speechless.
"If you won't help her, I will. I know what you did last time you tried to bring up a kid, and I won't let it happen again."
Wtf?!?
