(Kian's Pov)
<~About a week later~>I set a small box by the door and sit down on the couch. Melody's currently in the kitchen just sitting there silently, staring at nothing. "Where will you go?" She says softly. "Are you talking to me?" I call out. "Yeah." She says. I pull out my phone and send a text to Ricky, 'When will you be here to pick me up Rickers?' . "I'm going with my friend Ricky." I mumble, setting my phone on the coffee table. I hear footsteps leading into the living room, causing me to look up. "Whose?"
"My friend Ricky's, that's where I'm gonna stay." I say a bit louder. She nods and walks back in the kitchen. "How long will you be here?" She asks, turning on her heel to look at me again. "Do you want me gone?" I ask a bit harshly. She shakes her head. "I'm not sure. I texted Ricky a few seconds ago, asking when he's planning on picking me up... I'll let you know when I figure out what's going on." I force a smile. She nods and continues her path to the kitchen.
"If you stay for dinner, I'll make whatever you want." I hear from the other room.
"Mkay."
I hear my phone vibrate and I look at the screen. 'In a couple of hours.' The text reads, I sigh and punch in a message, basically begging for him to get me sooner. I don't wanna leave, but I have to. I'd much rather get it over with than stay here much longer. I get a response almost instantly, telling me to be ready in fifteen minutes. I smile at the text and set my phone down. "Melody, I wish I could stay longer, but my ride'll be here in a little while." I announce, walking into the kitchen. I glance over at the dining room table to see Melody sitting there, with her head against the table, resting on her forearms. "You okay?" I ask, knowing what the answer will be anyway.
"Oh... yeah, I just haven't been sleeping well the past few nights." She plays it off. I nod and sit on a counter. "So, did you hear what I said?" I ask, earning a nod in response. I sigh and scan all around the room. "I'm gonna miss this place." I blurt.

<~About 10-15 minutes later~>I hear a knock at the door and I glance at Kian, whom is still sitting on the counter. "I think your rides here.." I say quietly, he nods and stands up, walking out of the kitchen. I hear the front door open and Kian's voice sound enthusiastic. "Hey man! I've only got a couple boxes, so we can get you to your meeting on time." I hear. "But I don-" I hear his friend start, "Shh!" My heart drops, along with my head against the table. After a few trips to the car, Kian walks into the kitchen with his friend. "Well... this is it, Mel." He comments.
I stand up and walk over to him, opening my arms for a hug. He complies and I bury my face into his chest, inhaling his scent one last time. Tears brim my eyes as we hug for a few moments. As we pull away, I quickly blink back my tears and force a smile. "It's been fun." I say reminiscing on some of our memories from the past few months. "Mel, you're acting like I have cancer or something." He chuckles, "We can still be friends." He finishes. I nod, knowing that isn't what is really going to happen. We all know the whole "we can still be friends" ordeal when you break up with someone. It never works like that.
"Text me sometime?" I ask hopeful. He nods and turns on his heel, walking out of the room, Ricky and I following. "Bye guys." I say smiling, holding the door as they walk out. "It was nice meeting you, Melody?" He asks, I nod. "Nice meeting you too, Ricky." I smile, closing the door as he walks out. The car motor roars as it drives away. I grab my keys and walk out to my car. I never thought it would come to this. I thought I quit for good.

<~1 hour later~>I hear a car pull up in my driveway, must be Joseph. He's been out shooting with other people all day, some were becoming YouTubers, others were just people wanting some professional photos. I hear a knock at the door, so I go answer it. I open the door and a cloud of smoke wafts inside. Once the smoke clears up, I see Melody standing there, with puffy eyes. "Mel?" I ask for no reason, I mean, I knew it was her. "Yeup." She says coldly. "I thought you quit smoking?" I ask, swatting smoke away.
"So did I." She mutters, putting her cigarette out on the side of the door frame. "Dude!?" I complain. She rolls her eyes. "Come in.." I sigh. "Thanks." She says, walking in past me and sitting on the couch. I shut the door and sit down beside her. "What gave you the urge to start smoking again?" I ask. She doesn't say anything and stares down at her lap. "Mel?" I ask, moving her head up with my fingers. She looks at me as tears escape her eyes. I tilt my head in concern and wipe them away with my thumb.
"It's okay, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to." I say gently, pulling her into my chest. She balls the fabric from my shirt in her hands and her body grows tense. I rub small circles into her back and rest my chin on top of her head. Without warning she lets out a loud cry, causing my chest to boom with vibration. I squeeze her tightly and kiss her head, still rubbing circles on her back. "It's okay... please calm down." I whisper. She starts shaking, now crying silently.
