Hello, second last chapter. The next chapter is kinda part of this one but i decided to make them parts so there was less reading and more suspense. Zero's POV

"Zero, this way I found it!" a female voice called out to me, I recognized it to be Kayleen's voice. "Where are you?!" I yelled back, looking around for her everywhere but the darkness and thick fog was making it impossible to see. "I'm over here, follow my voice!" she called back, so I followed where her voice came from. Suddenly I heard I scream, it was Kayleen. "Zero! Help, help!" she yelled out I didn't know where anyone was so I shouted out into thin air.

"Kayleen!" I yelled at the top of my voice running blindly through the fog. "Ze-!" she was cut off then another scream followed. The sound of her scream made my body move my legs faster and faster.

I reached a clearing with a lot of tall trees and thick bushes, and in the middle off this clearing was Kayleen, her hands being held behind her back by... Ryan. Kayleen had a scared look on her face, she was terrified. "Kayleen? Are you okay?" I asked concerned for what might happen to her.

"I'm fine, just a bit scared" she said honestly, I could tell she was telling the truth, she wasn't hurt just a bit frightened. "This is all nice and touching but I want to get to the point" Ryan said coldly, still holding Kayleen's hands forcefully. "What do you want Ryan?" I questioned.

"You" was all he said before continuing, "You see Zero, I need the Blood Crystal but unfortunately no one knows where it is, not even the Royal Bloods know. I have heard the legend says that on the night when the Red Moon appears in the sky, that is when the Blood Crystal is at its most powerful. Only you can led me to it, Zero for you have an unusual connection with the Red Moon, I figured this out a long time ago".

Ryan had finished explaining his motives, but I was still confused as to why he was holding Kayleen. "Why do you need Kayleen?" I asked still pressing him, "wow you really are slow, and she's the bribe. If you don't help me then her life ends here" she said it so coldly that I was sure his soul was made of pure ice.

"But then I have no choice, this is blackmail" I stated the obvious, Ryan just laughed harshly, "believe what you will but I can make another arrangement for you if you like" he said, a wide grin forming of on his face. I thought for a moment, "Okay, what's the new deal?" I asked curiously.

Ryan's grin grew even more, he was planning something. "I will let her go... only if you take her place, but one of you will die either way" he was so calm about putting people's lives on the line that it scared me. I took a look at Kayleen's terrified face, tears started to roll down her cheeks.

The sight of that made me cave, I couldn't bare it, if something happened to her because of me, I would never be able to live with myself knowing that I was the reason she died. "Fine, let Kayleen go and let me take her spot" I said softly, "NO, Zero you can't!" Kayleen cried out not wanting me to take her place.

Ryan let his tight grip on her go and she ran straight over to me. "Zero, you can't do this, think of everyone that you would be leaving, Kaname, Sarah, Emma...Me" she had more tears now than she did before. My heart faltered, she doesn't want me to leave, but I knew I had to. "Kayleen, look at me" I whispered at her, she looked up into my violet eyes. "I have nothing to live for, no one to live for, you still have mum and dad, I don't" I stated softly.

She shook her head in disagreement, "no, you have us Zero, you have US to live for. Does that mean nothing to you?" she was heartbroken by my words, I chuckled slightly, "I will do anything for you guys, which means doing this" I kept strong for Kayleen's sake, I felt Kaname and Sarah's presence behind us.
