Chapter 1
Emma's POV
I was getting dressed for my new boarding school, i had my bags packed and ready to go. I looked in the mirror once more, my black and white uniform uncomfortable and itchy. I tugged on the bottom of my shirt, pleading for it to move down further. To my dismay, the fabric was unwilling to move another inch.
I walked down the stairs and my mum was waiting for me. She smiled at me, I tried to return the gesture. I gave a faint smile, "I know you don't want to leave Em, but your getting a good education this way," she said sweetly.
"I know, the website said that the school helps kids with 'special needs' whatever that means," I said with a sigh. Mum gripped the bottom of my chin and moved my head so I was looking at her. "It will be okay, you don't have special needs so it won't bother you. You'll be fine." She pulled me in for a hug, I gladly wrapped my arms around her. I better savor this I suppose, I hope the school is good.
--Time Skip--
After an eleven hour car trip I was finally at my new school. It took a while to find my dorm and room. I stood in my new bedroom, taking in the surroundings, the door suddenly swung open and a girl my age was standing there.
The girl walked in and threw her stuff on the bed closest to the door, "hi!", she greeted. "My name is Sarah", she had a big smile on her face. "Hi, my name is Emma", i said half asleep really.
"So your the new girl. This is gunna be great! This is my third year here, trust me, a few of the kids are a little strange but their nice." Strange? Strange how?
"Yeah that's me. Do you know where we can get some food? I'm starving," I said exaggerating my hunger a bit. Sarah laughed and started walking out of the room.
"This way," I shrugged my shoulders and followed her, already missing the smell of cattle and hay back home.
The lunch room was huge, apparently if you didn't have a class on you could walk around campus and do whatever, as long as you don't disturb any classes going on. Wooden tables covering every inch of floor there was, the stands of hot food in those self serving cookers and of course all of the people that were there already.
Sarah and I picked up a tray each and started picking food, lunch was about two hours away but I hadn't eaten since I left home. I decided on a chicken and Cesar wrap with an iced tea, while Sarah on the other hand, decided on a bowl of hot chips and a vanilla milkshake. We made our way to one of the back corner tables, we sat and started talking.
The room that was full of chatter suddenly fell quiet, I looked around until my eyes fell on a boy in the entry way to the lunch room. This boy looked to be 16 and had hair as white as a ghost and violet eyes, his black and white uniform all messy and crinkled.
"Who's he," I asked Sarah, gesturing to the boy that just walked in. "That's Zero, no one dares to misbehave around him. He's got one of those vibes, you know" she continued "he moved here last year".
"No kidding, no one is speaking, let alone eating or moving," I said surprised by the reactions this kid gets. Why is everyone so afraid of him? Is he that bad?
"If you ask me, I think Zero is just misjudged, he doesn't say much but still, everyone's scared of him. So, I think it's wrong to be afraid of someone and judge them for it without a reason," Sarah's words snapped me out of my thoughts and it made sense.
I had finished lunch and decided to go to my room to sleep before my class starts. Sarah had gone somewhere else, don't know where. While walking, I tried to imagine the walls where an open field and the floor beneath me was dirt, rock and grass.
I tried to imagine the smell of cattle and the sound of young calves. The feeling of the cool summer breeze as I stood watching the herd and the calves playing with each other.
It worked, for a bit. I was taken out of my fantasy when I made contact with something cold and hard. Regaining my senses, I looked around, I had fallen to the floor in the hall. I looked up and saw a brown short brown haired boy with pale skin and brown eyes staring down at me.
He looked a bit like Zero, only more friendly and less intimidating. He stood there, a big smile on his face, he started laughing. Yeah, because this is soo funny.
The boy just continue to laugh, when suddenly another voice from behind him made him stop. "Kaname, how many times have i told you to look where you're going" i looked behind the boy, who I now identified as Kaname. The untidy uniform, ghost white hair and pale violet eyes. Zero.
