Ryan's POV

In from the hallway of Cody's house, walked Joe and Scott. Even though i hadn't seen Joe in a while he still had short, spiky sandy blonde hair. Scott hadn't changed either, "Ryan?" Joe and Scott both asked in unison, "hey Joe nice to see you" i said facing Joe, not willing to talk to my brother anytime soon.

"I will never know how this man right here got such an amazing girl" Joe said while patting Scott on the shoulder, we had all gone out to a Cafe for drinks because it was the first time in years we had all been together. "So Ryan, what have you been doing with yourself?" Joe asked while sipping his hot coffee, i didn't know what to tell him because for ages now i had been working for the Vampire Lord. "Well..." i decided not to lie anymore, i had been lying to them since high school and that stops now.

"Truth is i have been employed by the Vampire Lord. Cody, Joe i'm sorry for keeping this a secret since high school but i'm a Vampire have been since i was 16" i finished and waited for their responses. "Ryan...why would you keep something like that from us?" Joe asked.

"Because when my family found out they didn't take it lightly, so i assumed you guys would do the same" i admitted, Cody and Joe's faces had the look of realization, now understanding why during school Scott and me drifted.

"So you are working for a Lord?" Cody asked still a little bit shocked. "Yeah be plans to change the world for the better of both Humans and Vampire's". On the way home we talked about stuff that had been happening over the few years, Cody and Joe had bought with them a soccer ball, so we went to the park.

"Hey Joe! Come catch me and steal the ball!" Cody yelled out to Joe, a huge grin on his face. Joe immediately shook his head and yelled back "your on Cody!" with that Joe ran straight after Cody. Scott and I took a seat on a park bench, just watching Cody and Joe act like children. I sighed and smiled, nothings changed, i thought.

"Ryan, i'm sorry for how i treated you back in high school. It was mum she made me ignore you, no matter how much it hurt me or her" Scott said.

"Yeah i know, just... never mind. How's mum?" i asked remembering that i wasn't around with my family the day our little brother died. Scott sighed, suddenly sad, "not good, she got really sad the day that John died" he paused for a moment then continued.

"Mum was diagnosed with cancer Ryan, she's been fighting for a year now and Doctors are afraid that she won't be able to fight much longer" it was awful. I continued to watch Cody and Joe, Joe came up behind Cody and tackled him to ground, Cody came into contact with the grass and groaned knowing that he had lost against Joe.

Later that day:

Cody, Joe, Scott and I had gone our separate ways again, it was only a few hours that i saw them again but it was good while it lasted because i finally told Cody and Joe about my secret and i cleared things up with Scott. Now i was heading to the Lord's castle, because it had been a few weeks now and i think i'm ready to go back.

I walked along the grey cobblestone path leading up to the castle, it too was grey stone, cracks were evident in nearly every brick. Large arch windows were placed around the castle, in one window I could see a crack and a hole.

I walked through the archway entrance, I stopped in my tracks when I heard a wailing/crying sound. I followed it until I saw a boy my age sitting on the edge of the pathway, crying and whispering to himself. I walked over and sat down next to him, he looked up and immediately I recognized his face, it was Connor.
