I jolted out from a deep sleep, squinting against the bright sun rays that streamed into the tent. Assan was cuddled up beside me snoring lightly, I scoffed and patted his head and sat up; I pressed my fingers against my nose, my head was pounding.
"Good morning," Wynne said as she walked into the tent and sat down across from me and fumbling through her pack, I arched my eyebrows at her.
"I wanted to give you the salves for your leg." She said, gesturing to the barely healed gash in my leg, I nodded and took a couple of the small ornate bottles. She didn't say anything about what happened last night and I was grateful because I truly did not want to talk about it. I stood up and stepped out of the tent, Alistair and Cullen were talking in hushed, but threatening, tones to one another, Cullen's face lit up when he saw me. Alistair whipped his head around and smiled brightly at me, I smiled back and went into my tent to grab my things. I quickly folded my bed roll and flung my bag on my back and walked back outside, Alistair was taking down his tent.
"I can get yours." I heard Cullen's voice say politely, he was looking down at his feet, scuffing them on the white snow.
"That's all right," I smiled at him as I started to take down my tent, Cullen nodded and walked off. I felt guilt surge through me, he felt so bad about what happened the night before. "Cullen!" I called out after him, he turned his head slightly.
"Can you get that side?" I asked, gesturing to the other side of my tent, he nodded and briskly walked over to the tent, we took the tent down quickly and I put it on my pack.
"Listen," I started and stepped towards him, "I'm.. sorry about acting like I didn't recognize you." I said nervously, "I didn't mean that.. I just." I began but Cullen hushed me.
"It's fine, don't worry about it." He said smiling at me weakly, "Actually, I've been wanting to give you something." Cullen said happily and grabbed his pack, rambling through it. "I got this for you in Denerim." He said as he stood up and held a gorgeous deep blue fabric out to me, I arched my eyebrows at him. "It's a cloak." Cullen explained, laughing slighly and unfolding it. The cloak cascaded to the ground, revealing the beautiful gold embroidery that meandered around the edges of the soft fabric.
"Why?" I asked, bewildered.
"It's a thank you, for everything." He said as he ran his fingers through his hair, I stroked my hand over the velvet-like fabric and smiled softly, before taking it in my hands. It was very thick, and very warm, perfect for this weather.
"Thank you." I said softly, Cullen was smiling at me brightly, he nodded and walked away. I traced the embroidery with my fingers, it was beautiful, something I would've worn in Highever with pride. I set my pack on the ground and put the cloak on, it was perfect, I loved it. I heaved my pack back on and walked over to Alistair who was watching Cullen closely, but smiled at the corner of his mouth when he saw me.
"How are you feeling?" He asked kindly, looking me over carefully, I nodded.
"Are we about ready to leave?" Morrigan moaned as she plopped on the ground and glared up at me.
"Honestly, you are like a child." Wynne teased as she walked over to Alistair and I, Assan in to.
"He seems to have taken to you, Wynne." I smiled, Wynne scoffed and patted Assan on the head.
