Chapter 1: Shroud
Above the sky 1, 999, 999 acres from the ground was the heavens from above.
I was there alone sitting at the side of the clouds looking at the park as the green grass and trees enveloped the earths of the world.
"You want to go down right?" a man’s rough voice asked me out of the blue in my room.
"I want to." I spoke softly.
"I had the idea of doing that too." He said, his shadow covering some of the light in my room.
I turned around slowly, and started looking at the person who spoke behind me. It was my best friend, Lucas. But I mostly call him ‘Luke’ for short.
He was my one and only best friend. He had dark brown hair and he had brown eyes and a gorgeous looking body that you would see in a model. Or maybe more than a model.
"Hey you’re not the only one who can and wants to go down half of us want to go down." He said.
"But you shouldn't because you’re different from each of us you'll just get yourself strip out from your wings."
"I know but its freedom." He sighed.
"Luke why are you even talking about this, you don't usually talk about this. What's happening?"
"He's made a mistake that would cause everything of his life, which includes me."
"What’s wrong Luke?"
"He said 'He didn't believe in angels, he didn’t believe in God anymore'."
"I know it hurts you Luke but you just can't do that."
"What if I can?" he said. “What if I knew a way?” my face shifted, then I felt a sudden jolt under my skin. He was going to tell him? “You know that there is a way I can save him, I can see it in your eyes Shroud, the want to save a human, my human, I know that I can and there is a way, and maybe you do too.” He held my hands in his and kept it there, warm and safe. “All I need is to tell him what’s going on, and I’m sure he’d help himself right away, I just need to point him to the right place first before he destroys everything. Everything he has.” He said.
"Luke please don't do it, he isn’t worth it." I said, a sigh of frustration hit me as he looked at me in my eyes, those dark brown eyes piercing right into my soul mirrored unto his, in that instant I knew he was going to do it.
"But I just can't leave him alone to suffer." He complained.
"But you have to let it go, Luke. You just might suffer. You can loose everything too."
"No I can't." he said. “I know I won’t loose everything.”
"Mines made a mistake too. You know people are sometimes stupid, they don’t see their mistakes." I yelled at him as he turned around facing the window. “Look at me!” I screamed, he turned around.
"You can't say anything like that you know. People can sometimes be smart. They just get tempted at times to choose the wrong things." He said.
"I know." Sadly to say, he was right. Right that people can sometimes be stupid and smart, but mostly stupid I guess.
"So you don't have to call them stupid."
"I know I'm sorry, I’m just angry because you’d want to go down and you might…"
"What if that's all I'm asking for. What if this can change everything for me, and for my human, and yours too."
"What did your human do other then what he said?"
"He made a dealership to a rank guy that would just crush his gut out."
"That is bad. My girl is just well much different from other people she's isolated from people but behalf from that she still loves other people in different ways I don't imagine how she could do something like that, she has a big heart." I said, he went nearer to me, distancing ourselves by half a meter from each other.
"I know I understand. I just… I just want to help." He said.
"You already can, you told me, and we’ll figure this out alright?” I asked him if he’d agree, but instead he looked away and starting to move away from me, inch per second away from me. “Just don't do or say anything like that okay." I yelled.
"Sure. I’d just make him kill himself, I don’t want to do that, I want to help out Shroud, I want to be part of someone’s life and help them figure it out, figure their life out." he said. "I’ll help, I promise I’ll help, I want you to promise me that, that when I’m gone, you won’t be stupid, you won’t follow after me, you won’t…” he didn’t continue.
“What are you doing?” I asked, my eyes filling with tears every minute he was going away from me.
“I'm going down, down there saving yours and my human, from their mistakes, from their tragedy so that life would be worth living for them."
"Luke please, you can’t do that." I said. “They won’t let you back!” I screamed.
"Don’t cry." He went near me again as he wiped the tears of my eyes and held my hands under his, his soft thumb grazing upon my palm as he wrote something there and placed it down.
I was lifeless, I felt like I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t live anymore. He was leaving.
"Luke you can't leave me." I yelled as he was nearing the door.
"You’re not. I'm not were both in this together." He said. “Its just that, you just can’t come with me.”
"You’re having lust." I told him. “Building it, starting little by little.”
"No I’m not, I’m sure of it, I just want to show him the truth. I just want to help out. I just want to be somebody to someone."
"How are you going to do this?" I asked closing our distance from each other.
"I'm going to leave you and go down there and strip my wings off in front of the council. You know they can’t resist a good show down." He joked.
"You can't, if you do that you can't…" I sobbed.
"I know the consequences; it means that I can't go back up. I'm fine with that at least I can help yours and my human right?" he said. “Right?” he asked again.
"You can't go. You just can’t go." More tears came out of my eyes. And it wouldn’t just stop, it just kept going on and on.
"Yes I can, but you have to promise me you won't do anything to save me." He said. “You won’t do anything stupid.” He smiled his awfully wonderful grin.
“Goodbye Shroud Marie Eloise[T1] Longwind.”
As he turned around to go out of my room, I spoke softly and said.
"Luke. Don’t go."
He just looked back and winked his eyes and walked out of the room.
And just like that he was gone.
