Chapter 3: Shroud
I dropped down with tears looking at Lucas going inside the Hall of Accords to finish his deal with the Council, and to take his fall from heaven. To save his human, and mines.
"Goodbye." was his last words that ever came out of his mouth. That’s what he said once more to me before he left. Before he was ever gone again from me.
I felt like my heart was beginning to break and stop beating. I took all my courage and tried to stand up again and some more strength to run towards the door. And so I screamed.
"I'm going. I'll go down." I spat the words out as all eyes were on me. Luke by my side as I dropped down on the floor and started taking off my shirt, leaving my undergarments inside me.
"Don't do this Shroud!" Luke spat out to me on the floor as he looked away. He never even held my hand like before when he wanted to calm me down.
"I'm going, it was my idea and I told Luke to do it but I should." I said. “I should do it, I should man up to my own request.”
"Child do you know what the consequences of what you want to be doing?" one of the council members asked with a sincere tone as she looked at me, her pale, and beautiful face looking at me. I was no match for her.
"Yes I do council mistress." I said, my voice shaking from the fear of how it would feel.
"Okay, but remember child there is no turning back from this. From what you are to want."
"Yes council I understand." I said, my hands went from cold to numb. I felt nothing.
"Do you know what you’re doing child? Have you any idea how it would be so different? There and here, it has a huge difference, and plus if you are home sick, you may not come back for another life time more child, do you really wish to seek this kind of unusualness?" another council member asked.
"Yes I'm abandoning heaven to help my human choose the right course of life." And Luke’s. I looked at him once more as he looked down at me. He never even saw me, but I saw a hint of pain in him, a small silver drop fell from his eyes, and everything in him changed.
"Oh! That's the first I have ever heard of that." A member said. “I thought that people couldn’t have a bigger heart than Erwich from Casanova, but I guess we’ve got bigger hearts in here don’t we Chad?” she said to a white haired man as he smiled at me and so did the woman whom pointed out the comment.
"Yes because I care for her truly." I told them.
"Alright then child, we grant your wish and we all wish you, good luck with your new life."
Then everyone screamed. “Res Secundae!” Good luck!
Then, a man looking in his fifty hundred years, he took a silver sword then tore a feather off from my wings and cut it and then I felt like I was free, and so I fell down the portal of Cloven. Then there was no more turning back and there was no more Lucas for me to see.
Just more wailing of Res Secundae.
I was in NYC, or the big apple as they called, New York City, it was like a haven for girls like my age, dressed in tanky tops with there friends, or someone even more special than that as they strolled around.
New York City for me was special, but only for one reason, because this was where my girl lived, my human lived. I was free from heaven. And Lucas.
I hurried to Avenue Street, more specifically my human’s house.
"Who is it?" a female voice rose up out of no where.
"Um, I’m looking for Serina Longchild, is she here?"
"Who are you?" a small, petite looking woman came out of the house dressed in an apron as she was looking at me.
"Um, I need to talk to her, in private. My name’s Shroud." I said, as I held out my hand for her to shake, but she didn’t take it instead she looked up and down at me, staring at me as if I was an insect ready to be dissected into pieces.
"Oh! Um she's not here, um Shroud, you just missed her she went to the city mall with Christopher."
"Christopher! Right her best friend." I said. “How could I be so stupid.” I mumbled to myself.
I ran back towards the cab that brought me here on the first place and shoved off a $100 bill to the driver to drive to city mall.
"Wow madam."
"Take it and let's go. Hurry!"
"Yes."
The cab took off in moments not knowing what would happen next.
