Chapter 2: Lucas
I walked out on Shroud, wanting to just go back and hold her in my arms and stop her from crying those awfully wonderful tears and making her smile with those beautiful eyelashes batting at me like I was never going to close my eyes again without seeing them for one last time.
"Don't go." She told me.
It just felt like before. It felt like I was back to the world of reality. It felt like I didn’t want to go back, I didn’t want to go back into feeling this unknown feeling inside me that has been coming around for so long when I’m around her, when I’m beside her, or talking to her, or laughing with her.
I walked to the door and reached out for the knob when someone tapped my back and coughed.
"Back out." a smooth voice said out of the middle of the darkness.
I turned around and saw Michael leaping out not in his usual attire but with his black tuxedo and wrapped up in a blue tie hung down from his white polo shirt.
"Don't do what you’re thinking of doing you fool!" he said with anger in his eyes.
"What if I want to? What if I needed to?"
"Then be it. Don't be a hero because being one just kills you eternally and physically, and emotionally."
"I'm not doing that for just that."
"Really, then what is it for then?"
"Yes there are other reasons for it you know." I said. “My soul wouldn’t fully be eternally damned.”
"Like what then? Explain to me child, I’ve got time, all the time needs."
"Like helping my human and Shroud's."
"Well you can't decide everything for yourself you have to face some things. Some crazy and hard things child."
"Well... now I’m doing it aren’t I? By doing this I can save a lot of things."
"Everything you think is natural is not just natural, what ever you decide become this ‘everything’ you are talking about, son. These are called choices."
"Why are you telling me this?" I asked him. This was unusual.
"Because I know that you can be someone, someone different from others here. Your not making the right choice son, and it would hate me and the council for you to waste something like this, but mostly me. You are needed here."
"For what?"
“Lots of things are unclear, they aren’t really as clear as anything you can ever see in the start yet sonny boy. But in the end it will be, when your much older you’ll understand why you are very much needed here, it may be because of your strong will, or maybe because of your wisdom and courage son, that we all know you have.” He said.
“Why are you telling me this? Why?”
"Because I know you'll make the right decisions." he said and pulled the knob and walked inside showing his bright face as if nothing had happened.
"Luke!" someone screamed. "Luke! Wait!"
I walked pass the hall and saw Shroud running towards me. Then I started running towards her too. I held her arms into mines.
"Luke please, you can’t do this.” She whispered to me. I looked in those beautiful blue[T1] eyes as they looked at me. “You just can’t this, I won’t let you!” she said being stubborn. Again. “I beg of you. Don’t do this, if not for me then for your mother.” She pleaded.
“I need to go, and you know that and the reasons, Shroud.” I told her.
“Fine. If you go, then… then I’ll have to go too." She said to me.
"Why? Why are you doing this to yourself?" I asked her, her eyes glistening and big fat tears came out of her eyes. “Don’t cry, Shroud, please don’t.” I told her as I wiped off each drop.
"Lucas, you just can’t leave me here. Bec-Bec-cause for me without you it’s like a world with no roads, so meaning there’s no life. If you leave me I will just follow you no matter what."
"But I ask of you not to leave so don't. Please Shroud for me?" I told her.
"But I have too. Without you I am nothing of price. I am priceless. I am nothing without you." she told me. And right then I knew I would never want to leave her again. But my human, who will save him?
"That is what makes you perfect for me, Shroud. You would do anything. But I wouldn't let you." I told her. “I would never make you choose or do anything that you don’t want for me, I would never want anything to hurt you, so please…”
"Luke! Don't! Please don’t! I can’t do this!"
"Tell me one reason I can't go down there."
"Because if you do... You might die... And I can't let you die... Because I love you."
She rose up from the floor after a few moments of me and her kneeling there, in the silent hallways where everyone else was either buzzing themselves with their works and humans. Not even knowing that one of them would leave sooner or later with no goodbye’s. Then she again she said those few words that made my heart tingle and ache at the same time as she told me.
"I have to go." I told her as I stood up from my place, but she grabbed my arm, and I knew that if I didn’t go now, I would never let go of her, because seeing her hurt as this made myself never forgive Me.
"Lucas Matthew Timothy Gardner please I beg of you don't do this." she whimpered.
"Goodbye." I spoke softly.
And I walked through the doors seeking for my fall. To save my human, and Shroud’s human. And I left her, alone. Kneeling as she looked at me with those blue eyes filled with hurt and pain.
