Chapter 8: Lucas

I was there in her room staring and counting the stars that were hidden by the moon.

The little girl, Kathleen, disappeared and there was nothing but dust left. As if she just disappeared out of no where. I sat down at her old pink chair where she would use to sit down to rest her ankles as me and her would talk. I shove some of the dust to my hand and kept it close to my heart, and the others flowed right to my face leading me to stand up and fall right to her flowery bed.

It was a dream, a dream about Shroud and me.

We were both in the middle of the court room and no one was inside but ourselves.

"You can't do this." she spoke with sadness.

"I have too." I looked in her eyes and looked back down too ashamed to face her.

"You know I'll still go down even though you do this to me Luke." she looked me in the eye and started to stare at me.

"You can't do that, which would mean you have to fall with me."

"If it means that then I shall do it."

"No! You must not I beg of you Shroud I will not stand before you and say those words for you not to want to fall."

"I don't need those words to make me not go down, Lucas. I have my own set of decisions and choices. It isn't yours to choose." her eyes dripped with tears begging me to stop this matter now.

"I will not. You can't, if you fall I will not follow you." I spoke to her as if I was her master, but I knew I had to do it, it wasn't her suffering. She shouldn't suffer because of me, of my selfishness, of my greed and love for my human.

"No! I will go with you no matter what because if you’re not here. I will leave and shall tell the council to kill me by torturing me. I will go with you no matter what Luke."

"It is your choice now dear, Shroud do you wish to take the fall or do you wish to stay here and be here with God?" the council of elders asked Shroud.

"I wish to fall down, my dear council. And I hope you my God will understand." her eyes filled with tears dropped down to the floor bringing up a portal to Earth and brought her wings down and she fell.

"Shroud! Shroud! Shroud don't leave me I beg of you don't leave me. Shroud!" then tears kept falling through my eyes bringing me sadness with a loud shout almost bursting throughout the whole room.

---

"Lucas my boy, please wake up."

A short thud in my chest punched in making me stand up from Shroud's flowery bed making me face Frieda, our morning room accessor.

"Oh Lucas my dear you woke up both your neighbors. They said they heard screams from this room which use to be Shroud’s, and no one occupies this room anymore child, and then I came and found you here. Tell me Lucas my boy what is going on with you?"

"Nothing Frieda it's okay. I'll apologize to them tomorrow morning."

"Lucas you are not okay. You screamed Shroud's name a loud. What is going on with that, huh?"

"I just wanted to hear her name again. That's all."

"But you were asleep my boy you can't lie to young old Frieda."

"There’s nothing wrong Frieda; don't mind I'll explain to them tomorrow morning."

"Oh alright young boy but you have to evacuate this room since Shroud's not here anymore."

"But..."

"Its orders from the council, we all must not disobey their orders, Lucas."

"I know but please tell them not to touch or remove anything from this room."

"I'll make sure to make a notice to the elders about your opinion or say Lucas."

"Thanks Frieda."

"You bet."

"You now have to evacuate the premises or the council will come in themselves, and you know how it is when there in the area personally, there are fights and much more we don't want to open now do we?"

"Yes Frieda I guess I should go."

"Good."

And then I took off leaving nothing but the silver dust on the floor as a sign that I was there with the little girl that helped me. Then I closed the door hoping nothing would be touched by anyone but me, because everything there for me was fragile. It was the only thing that would remind me of her, of Shroud.

Because not only was everything fragile. Shroud's memories were much more then memories it was beginnings that would never end.
