"... lost my senses, I'm defenseless."

ALEXANDRA

Me and Calum stayed down in the lobby, asking people if they'd seen her for a while.

Everyone said they'd seen her about an hour ago, sitting in the bar; obviously drunk.

I cursed for myself. Why hadn't I been with her? What kind of best friend leaves her heartbroken best friend after she'd literally fought with her ex?

Sophia, Liam and Luke were down in the basement, Ashton, Harry and Kylie looked were upstairs, and Niall, Louis and Eleanor were spread out all over the hotel. We had people all over the place, plus we'd asked people to look out for her and yet I was worried.

I had a stupid feeling in my gut telling me something wasn't right.

"Hi excuse me, you haven't seen Elisabeth Holland down here have you?", I asked a brunette girl who was standing with her back my way.

The girl was standing with two boys, and over the twenty minutes I'd been standing in the lobby, she'd talked to more than two.

As soon as she'd turned around I realized it was her. Michael's girlfriend.

"Alex, hi! No sorry. Haven't seen here since she was... You know", her smile she'd had when she first turned around, faded.

"Since what?" I asked, trying to not cry.

I didn't want to speak to the girl who were dating the one guy who had literally just broken my heart.

"You don't know? She was making out with Zayn in the bar?", she laughed as I suddenly remembered her name; Marcia.

Zayn... Lia? In the bar? None of this sounded good in my ears.

"Anyways, have you seen Michael? I've been looking for him for ages", she continued, rolling her eyes cringing a bit. God I did not like this girl.

No you haven't been looking for him; since you've been basically standing here talking to different guys every each minute, I wanted to scream. But managed somehow; not to.

"Eh no, sorry, Marcia", I excused myself and left her standing, walking up to Calum who was on the phone with someone.

He ended the call and looked at me.

"What did she say?".

"Oh just wanted to know if I'd seen Michael", I rolled my eyes.

Calum looked confused for a second. "Was that Marcia?"

I nodded. "Of course it was".

"Because I literally just talked to Michael and he was looking for her", I doubted he'd heard my statement as he looked over my shoulder to look for her.

And even though it was hard to admit it to myself, it sucked to hear that. Of course Michael was looking for her, not me. He loved her. Not me. That was how things was gonna be from now on. Her, not me. Always Marcia, never me.

"Hey, Alex, you alright?", Calum's worried voice said with a small smile. I smiled back, a small, short smile but he saw it. "That's my girl. Don't be sad. He's a jerk and if he's gonna be like this he doesn't deserve you", my best friend said and kissed my forehead. A move I hadn't expected from him, as in never.

Calum might be the touchy type but he never touched me, not like that. But it calmed my nerves. I did deserve better than Michael. Everyone did.

"I love you", I said and hugged him. He seemed to be as surprised as I felt over the words I had just told him.
