Chapter 22- Trapped

I just got home working an eight hour shift and I'm dying. Not only did Aurora yell at me for doing something wrong, but I had to clean this party table which was a huge mess.
I need to go and take a warm shower and get some sleep just to forget this stressful day.

But today is Friday and I asked Jack if he can take Aidan and I to the store since he needs a few things.

But I'm really not in the mood for this.

Since there's no other day though, it had to be today. And at least I don't have to pick up Aidan at the nursery since Mrs. Corona stayed home today and watched him for me.

Then there's the fact my car isn't working so I have to take the bus and walk about half a mile to reach the house.

When I walk into the driveway I trip and fall on my knees and hands. I quietly curse and her back up. I dust my stained uniform and continue on.

As I open the door I place the keys on the table and inwardly groan at just wanting to sit down. I make my way to the couch and decide to lay down for a minutes before deciding the only thing that will make me happy is if I see my baby.

I walk to the kitchen where Rapunzel eats while watching over at Aidan in his highchair. I make sure to let her know I'm there by clearing me throat.

With a mouth full of food she greets me and I smile.

"Has he eaten?" I point to Aidan as he slams his hands on the tray.

She mumbles yes before swallowing her food. "Yeah, he did. He's good to go."

I nod my head at her, "Okay, thank you."

Now it's time to change out of my uniform before Jack comes.

Already changed I make sure I have my money ready and that Aidan's car seat is too.
While changing Aidan the bell rings and echoes thought the house. I think Rapunzel went to go answer it.

A few moments later I hear footsteps coming into my room just as Aidan has a new diaper on. I turn around to find Jack.

"So, are you ready to go?" He asks and helps by getting the car seat from the corner of the room.

"Thanks, and yeah, I'm ready." I tell him while following his trail downstairs. I find Mrs. Corona in the living room and inform her I'm going to the store to buy a few things and that Jack's my ride.

"Okay, but do you need some money? I'll be glad to." She asks when I seriously think about it. The whole point I got this job was so I don't bother them with the idea of them needing to give me cash.

"Actually I'm okay. Thanks though."

"Alright, but hurry back, okay?" She walks me to the door and offers us a smile before I step out and gently close the door behind me.

Just then I remember forgot something.

I was about to go back inside when Rapunzel beats me to it and opens the door and hands me Aidan. She gives me a knowing look as if to say 'here, you forgot your baby.'

Quickly, I thank her and speed walk to Jack's car across the street as he secures the baby seat. He turns to me confused, "Is that how it goes?"

I examine it and nod my head before giving him the baby to buckle him in. With him taking care of Aidan, I climb in the passenger seat and buckle myself in.

This isn't too bad. So far.

I'm not so into the idea of being in such a minimal space with a man. That hasn't exactly worked out for me in the past.
