This was a long time coming.

Elsa's knee kept bouncing throughout the entire care ride. She wore the warmest dress she had in her closet fitted for the brisk weather. She knows they won't care how she shows up. Elsa could have arrived in dirty jeans and a plain t-shirt and Jack's parents would not have uttered a word.

It's been weeks since she has last seen them. Elsa has just been busy with work and Aidan to plan a visit. Jack has told her a few times how much his parents wish she'd come for dinner.

Elsa would be lying if she said she hasn't missed them. They are great and kind people who supported her in the darkest of times and tried their best to make her feel less alone all those years ago.

Eventually, their car pulls up on the driveway.

"You look nervous," Jack whispers, after opening the car door for her.

Aidan hops off the backseat and expresses the same thought. "What's wrong, mom?"

Elsa shakes her head at their concern. Instead, she smoothes down her velvet emerald dress and adjusts her overcoat. "I'm fine," and she offers them in what she hopes is a reassuring smile.

That was enough for Aidan who dashes off to the front door and rings the bell, jumping to see his grandparents.

Jack sticks by her side, his hair rustled by a gust of wind, and consoles her. "Don't be so nervous. You know my parents adore you."

She offers him a tentative smile.

Just as his fingers were about to graze her own, the door to Jack's parent's home opens.

He quickly puts his hand down.

His parents open the door and offer them warming smiles to which Elsa freely returns. Aidan can hardly keep himself still as he starts to greet them.

Jack then places a friendly hand to the small of her back to guide her ahead. It's a small and innocent act that hopefully goes unnoticed by his parents.

When she reaches the threshold, Jack's parents break away from Aidan long enough to greet them."It's such a relief to see you again, Elsa," Jack's mom sighs, and reaches for her.

Elsa doesn't mind as she is pulled into a tight hug. Chuckling, Elsa pulls back and nods her head, "It's great to see you as well, Mrs. Frost."

Jack's dad extends his hand to which she accepts. His large hands are gentle as he gives her a light squeeze. "It's great to see you again, sweetheart."

"Likewise. I realize it has been a long time." Elsa's eyes land on Aidan who watches back and forth. "Plus, I know someone who has missed you dearly."

Mrs. Frost stretches her hand to Aidan to which he takes. "Why don't you help me in the kitchen, darling?"

Eagerly, Aidan nods his head and follows her into the kitchen.

Mr. Frost closes the door and offers to take Elsa's coat. She thanks him and moves further into the house where the warmth of the fireplace manifests.

"Dinner should be ready in a few minutes," Jack's dad announces as he hangs their jackets.

Elsa offers him a smile. Wringing her hands together, she asks, "Where is Emma?"

Jack steps beside her. "She is running late. She should be here in time for dinner."

"Why don't we all go into the kitchen." Mr. Frost leads them to the large kitchen where Elsa can already smell the aroma of what appears to be a delicious hot broth. She licks her lips as she inhales deeply. Finally, she sighs and says aloud, "That smells delicious."
