Goddamit why am I such a fucking coward?!

Head in his hands, Parvis sat on the step of the school fountain. Next to him lay a slightly crumpled orange rose. Biting his lip he watched William Strife smiling and laughing with his friends as they walked out of the courtyard. He wondered if anyone had actually asked him yet. What was he even afraid of? The worst thing that could happen was rejection. But that is pretty fucking bad. He ran his hands through his hair sighing frustratedly. All of this for some stupid dance that I don't even have to go to. He stared at the rose next to him absentmindedly. He was letting his feelings get the better of him again, stop thinking about it. But he just couldn't stop thinking. He could never stop thinking about his green eyes, or the way he would try to smooth down his wild blonde locks with hands that Parv knew would fit perfectly in his, or the way Parv would hold him if- No, he's doing it again. Massaging his eyes with his palms he heard a small cough next to him.

"Are you alright?"

Parv looked up at the speaker quickly. There he was in all his beauty, William Strife. He was alone...

"Hello?" Will said snapping Parv out of his trance. "Huh? Oh ya I'm fine.." William looked at him concerned and Parv felt his heart drop into his stomach. Will glanced at the rose next to him.

"You asking a special someone to the dance?" "Uh ya.." Come on this is your chance! "Well you better get a move on, it is tomorrow." Strife said giving him a small smile. "You going with anyone?" Strife sighed "No, no one's asked me yet." Will stood in awkward silence for a few seconds before he said "Well I better get home, good luck with your date." "Ya.." The shorter boy began to walk away slinging his bag over his right shoulder. Come on you idiot, do it!

"Will wait!" Parv ran after him, rose in hand. The blonde turned looking curious. "Will, will you g-go to the dance with m-me?" Parv stuttered, biting his lip nervously. Strife face broke into a huge grin. Throwing his arms around the taller boy he replied enthusiastically "Of course I will Parvis!" Parv let out a breath of relief and embraced the hug. Pulling away, the blonde took the rose from his hand "Thanks for the rose by the way." Parv smiled sheepishly. Re-adjusting his bag on his shoulder Strife gave him one last smile and said "Well, I'll see you at the dance tomorrow! I'll look forward to it!"

Parv fidgeted with the buttons on his shirk nervously. People had begun to go into the school and Parv hoped Will would get here soon, he looked quite awkward standing there.

"Hey loser, trying to catch any poor stragglers? Or has your 'date' stood you up?" He bit his lip as Sips walked past him followed by a bunch of swooning girls. Rich idiot.. Parvis shifted his weight from on foot to the other.

"Sorry, my bike had a flat tire I hope you weren't waiting long." Parvis turned in relief to look at the nervous teen before him. Strife had on a tie and a red vest and was looking wonderful. "No, no, not at all! You look great!" Parv grinned. Strife blushed, "Thanks, so do you. Wanna go in?" "Lets" Taking the blonde's hand Parv pulled the blushing teen inside. The DJ was playing some trashy pop song and there were streamers hanging from the ceiling. Heading over to the snack table Parv bought them both brownies from a tired looking teacher. Hanging by the walls, they ate their brownies and giggled at the stupid dancing of their fellow pupils. Strife blushed the whole time and nervously fidgeted as they stared at the kissing couples. A slower song came on and Parv took his chance. Taking the blonde's hand, he lead him onto the dance floor amongst the slow-dancing couples. Placing Strife's hands on his waist he placed his own hands on the shorter boy's shoulders. They rocked back and forth ignoring the odd glances they got. As the song came to an end they got closer and closer. At the last note Parv leant forward and met Strife's lips. The world seemed to slow around them as they kissed and the moment seemed to last for eternity. They finally pulled away and Strife leant his forehead against Parv's as their breath mingled on the crowded dance floor.

They would both always remember their first kiss at that stupid school dance.
