What is this place? He stumbled out of the portal panting as his chest heaved to reach the magic filled air. Oh it's good to be back in this realm again, wherever he was. Glancing around he could see light coming from the edge of the forest. Walking out, the mage blinked in the sunlight as he inhaled the wonderful not-twilight air. There was a red building in front of him and he wondered if the person who built it was going for a oriental style. They had definitely succeeded. Glancing around, he examined the other buildings. There were pipes and wired protruding out of them with flowers covering the area. He noticed a botania area in the center courtyard and smiled. Magic users. He took a step forward but shrunk back into the shadows as he heard a shout.

"Lalna could you come here for a sec?" Lalna? Oh no...

A figure opened the door and Rythian's eyes went wide. Oh god no, not him, anyone but him, this can't be happening. Panicking he retreated farther into the forest, eyes wide and staring.

But something was different. Odd. He was still in the lab-coat but something had changed about him. It wasn't buttoned like it usually was and he had purple stains creeping up on him. His goggles were atop his head instead of over his eyes and he was smiling like he meant it. But he never meant it.

"Yes Nano?" A girl came walking into the courtyard holding something in her hands. She had flux crawling up her skin as well, though it was worse than Lalna's. He guessed she was the one who designed the red building seeing as she wore a traditional red kimono. She grinned and flicked her long black hair behind her.

"Look what I made!" She held up the item proudly. It was a mask and he stared curiously at it waiting for Lalna to scold her. But instead he burst out laughing.

"Oh my god thats brilliant Nano, how'd you do that?!" She laughed and plopped it on his nose as he grinned. Running back into one of the buildings she yelled "I have like 5 more to try its a thingy with botania." He laughed and followed her into the house.

What the hell? The mage stood there dumbfounded. Since when has Lalna smiled or laughed, let alone had a sense of humor? He took out a potion from his belt, an invisibility he's been saving up. Decided that he might as well use it, he chugged the liquid and felt the usual sensation as his body became see-through. Carefully, he stepped out of the woods and stood by the window of the house pressing his ear against a crack in the pane.

"So its just some of these petals?" They were stood over a crafting table as Nano thumbed through a book. "Ya, there there and there." She pointed at the table as he placed the items. Before he knew it they were laughing as Nano ran out of the house wearing a potato mask. Lalna quickly followed and Rythian moved to the courtyard. The blonde tackled the girl to the ground. The mage stiffened and tensed, ready to jump but stared confused as she laughed. Rolling off her, they lay amongst the flowers and stared at the sky unaware of their unwanted guest, the masks laying next to them.

"Hey Lalna?" the girl looked over at him smiling.

"Ya?"

"What did you do before? You know, before I landed in the fountain." He closed his eyes before grabbing the girl's hand. She stared at him curiously.

"Thank you."

"What?" She stared at him confused.

"Nano, before I met you I- I did bad things." Rythian almost snorted at this. They were a lot worse than bad. She waited patiently for him to reply.

He sighed. "There once was a man. A wonderfully beautiful man. He lived in a realm with his friends. He was a mage, the best and most powerful mage in the land. He was born with a curse, it tainted his skin in deep scars that he covered with scarves and bandages. But he was happy, because he had his friends. Unknown to him his best friend, a scientist a know very well, loved him. He loved him so much he could hardly contain it. But he was scared to say it because the mage didn't love him back. And then along came a girl, a girl with bright red hair and a huge smile. And the mage fell. He fell so hard for her and the scientist only watched as his mage talked to him less and less, spending all his time with the girl. The scientist grew jealous. He wanted that beautiful mage for himself. It threw him so deep into a jealous insanity that he started wars and that world was finished before he knew it. People moved on, to a new realm. The scientist left alone, to build a lonely castle on a hilltop. The mage went off with the girl. They made a stronghold and slept in the same bed. The scientist got worse and worse until he couldn't take it anymore. He placed a bomb underneath their base. The girl tried to defuse it but it backfired and she lost an arm. The mage disappeared with her, no one knows were she went. The scientist was alone again. But then along came a girl. A girl with long black hair with hibiscus flowers. She came in with a bang, literally. She helped him regain the humanity he had lost in those long days of insanity. They moved onto new lands, rebuilt time and time again until this very day they sit in the garden they built together." He looked over at her and smiled.

"Lalna I- I don't know what to say." her eyes were filling with tears. "I'm- I'm so sorry." The duo hugged as Rythian stood there in shock. Standing up, the sun began to set as the duo smiled and headed inside of another one of the houses. Rythian walked over and peeked through a window. The girl was getting into a purple bed as Lalna sat in a hammock watching her. He was smiling. He watched as the girl slowly drifted into slumber, her flux glowing in the dim lighting. He sighed and stood up, opening a hatch in the ceiling and climbing up a metal ladder built into the wall. Rythian climbed up the building and sat next to him as he stared at the stars. He felt the potion wear off.

"Rythian?!" Lalna practically shouted as he nearly fell off the roof in shock. He backed up looking terrified "P-Please don't kill me"

Rythian sighed "I'm not going to kill you, you idiot." Slowly, Lalna edged back over to him.

"Why are you here? Wheres Zoey?" Rythian sighed "Zoey's off somewhere in space with her girlfriend. I'm here because I heard what you told Nano." Lalna's eyes widened.

"Wait what? Zoey has a- what?" Rythian sighed again.

"She has a girlfriend. We were never anything more than friends Lalna. Just friends..."

"But then.. Oh Ryth I'm so sorry." "It's fine Lalna. I heard." They sat in silence.

"Do you.. still- you know-" "Yes I do Rythian." "Oh..." Lalna stared at him sadly.

"But what about Nano?" "Just friends. Very close friends." "Oh..."

"I loved you." "What?" The blonde looked up. "R-Ryth?"

And then his mask was pulled down and they were together again. The scientist and the mage were back together and there was nothing that could pull them apart.
