{Rythna} The Blonde in the Corner

Dear Diary,

I finally went to that book store today. Zoey's been annoying me about it for ages so I thought I might as well give it a try since it was on the way from work. It really is quite nice, I hate to admit it but Zoey was right. The lady there said I could come in and read whenever I want so I think I might go back some day. No one was yelling for once and it was really comforting for some reason. I don't know why. Mum was drinking again, she says I should get a girlfriend. Dad still isn't home. I miss him. I think I'll be able to move out soon, I've nearly saved enough for the apartment I was looking at. Mum doesn't know of course, but that's for the better. I need to get away soon, I can't take much more of this. Zoey says she'll help me get on my feet once I'm out, she really is a fantastic friend.

Dear Diary,

I did it! I finally escaped! Zoey's been picking me up for school and such, she really has been a great help. I've been surviving of pasta mostly but I'm fine. Wasn't a big foodie anyway. I'm only a couple blocks from my work so I can walk. I've been stopping at the book store on the way home, it really is quite calming. Mum keeps calling me, I don't really know what to do. I've ignored them, but the voicemails are terrifying. Dad called once. He says he's proud of me. He says he misses me but he'll be back soon, then we can go out for dinner that's not cheap food. He says he still loves me. I'm glad.

Dear Diary,

I turned 18 today. I can stop hiding now. I'm my own person. It's great. Zoey brought me cupcakes after school today, we ate them on the couch and watched Netflix on her laptop. It had been a good day. She says she's met a girl she likes, they're going out on Monday. I hope it turns out okay, she really is a wonderful person. I'm still hanging around the book store, I've nearly finished the first Game of Thrones. It's quite exciting. Zoey can't wait for me to catch up to her so we can chat about it, should be fun. My dad called and said Happy Birthday. Mum told me to come home. I think you can tell which message I liked better. I hope he comes back soon, but I understand. Work is stressful. I should know.

Zoey says I should ask him out. I don't think I should, who would want me anyway? I certainly wouldn't. I got a raise on Tuesday, my boss said I deserved it. I bought myself some cookies in celebration, they lasted about 2 days. It was a good 2 days. School's finally over, thank god. I can really focus more on work now.

The blonde in the corner of the book store has started staring at me. It's very embarrassing. Zoey thinks he has a crush on me. That's ridiculous. He was obviously just looking at my scarf, a lot of people do. But I can dream.

My mum called again today. I didn't pick up. She says my dad died. I think she's lying. But he didn't answer me. I'm scared.

My dad died. They don't even have the body. He was on his flight back. I missed work today. I can't do this. I need some chocolate.

Zoey and Fiona came to visit today. They said they were really sorry and brought me soup and things. It helped a little. But I'm still sad. Fiona's giving me her old laptop. I can watch Netflix now. Yay.

I went back to the book store today. The blonde was there again. The lady at the desk said he was looking for me a couple days ago. I wonder why. Maybe I dropped something. Zoey and Fiona have been bringing me things, it's really nice of them. I don't deserve it but they bring them anyway. The sweets have been good.

He came up to talk to me yesterday. I know his name now, Lalna. It's a really pretty name. Fits a really pretty person. He wanted to know if I wanted to get a coffee. I said yes. He's really cute when he's nervous, like a puppy. That was a weird analogy but it fits. Zoey says it's a match made in heaven. I think that's ridiculous.

Lalna brought flowers in to work for me. It was really sweet of him. He says I'm cute when I'm embarrassed. Zoey says he has a good affect on me. Fiona agrees. I think I do to.

Dear Diary,

It's been almost a year now. The best year of my life. Lalna moved in with me last week and it has been fantastic. He helps with my sleep so much and I love waking up next to him. He really is great. Mum has stopped calling by now. I still miss dad but I guess I'm alright, I have Lalna. And that's all I need. I love him. He loves me. My life isn't the greatest, but for right now I'm alright. I wouldn't change anything for the world. And Lalna agrees.
