"A-a-are you sure we should be doing this?" the young prince stuttered in a whisper, "I mean, w-what if we get c-caught?"

You brushed a loose strand of hair behind your ear, "Don't be silly, Ben! There's nothing wrong with a little late night exploring."

Continuing to walk a couple of confident feet in front of the boy, he trailed nervously behind. The midnight air was crisp with a chill. The sky above was jet with bright stars scattered across, looking like a split jar of silver glitter. You and your friend walked through the grand garden by the light of the moon, until you stopped suddenly in your tracks. Ben anxiously grasped your arm in fright.

"W-what is it?" he asked.

You took a deep breath in as you stared immensely at a forest-green shrub. "It looks to be...," you paused dramatically for effect, the bush rustling, "...THE CAT!"

Ben let out a yelp, jumping backwards as the pure white kitten pounced from the flourishing flower bush.

You'd known Ben since you were babies; both your parents were close friends. Clearly, you were the adventurous troublemaker of the pair, but that never stopped you from dragging Ben along with all your schemes.

Linking your arm with the boy's, you exclaimed, "Onward, Prince Benjamin, into the night!" and once again you both began to walk forward once more.

"(Y/N), I'm serious! What if the guards catch us?"

"Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben...," you laughed as you dropped the boy's arm, "Stop stressing so much! Now...catch me if you can!"

You smiled as you darted ahead and into the thick forest that bordered with the castle garden. The chilly night breeze ran through your hair and your heart raced. Your vision was a blur of the passing tree trunks around you, but clear enough to see Ben pacing not far behind.

Stopping at the largest tree in the forest for miles around, you began to climb. Higher and higher you went, puffing with every climb until you stopped at a thick branch. Sliding across the barky surface, you got comfortable, legs dangling loosely over the edge.

"Hey there Ben. What took you so long?" you cooed looking underneath, "Don't worry, the guards won't find you up here," you rolled your eyes.

"Ha. Ha," sarcastically spat Ben. He too began to climb the tree, sliding onto the branch beside you close enough that your sides lightly touched. The bright, pale moon leaked through the leaves above.

Chills rushed down your spinal cord as Ben took your hand in his. Your cheeks blushed pink and your heart warmed. He squeezed your hand comfortingly causing you to smile uncontrollably.

"(Y/N)...umm...I don't really know how to say this," the boy licked his lips.

You tilted your head sideways and beamed, "You can be honest with me, Ben."

"I don't know...I guess it's hard because you're the first girl to ever make me feel this way."

"Ben," you sung, red cheeks, "I like you too."

He widened his eyes with astonishment, "R-really?"

Not another word. You leant in close, pecking the boy's soft, warm cheek. His jaw dropped as he sat completely still with surprise. You giggled and said, "We better go back inside before somebody catches us. Naughty Ben, why are you always trying to get me in trouble?"
