"Alright so what's the compound PF5?"

Jay squinted his eyes in thought. He licked his lips and answered, "Phosphorous pentafluoride?"

Annabelle dropped her blue ballpoint pen and clapped her hands lightly. A smile grew across her freckled face as she said, "Great! You're getting it, Jay!"

He laughed as he closed his notebook and looked around the large library. Jay ran his fingers through his chocolate, flowing hair, "Thanks for the chemistry help Annabelle, but I really should get going."

"Oh?" the girl rested her chin in her palm and batted her long eyelashes, "A-are you sure you don't want to quickly run over chapter four again?"

Jay slid a small pile of thick hard covered books under his muscular arm as he rose to his feet.

"Not right now, but definitely next time," he responded almost apologetically.

"That's a shame. I really like spending time with you, Jay. Maybe we could hang out sometime other than our tutoring sessions."

The boy bit his lip and said, "Oh...listen, Annabelle you're a really great person and all, but I'm sort of not into girls and I've already got a boyfriend."

Annabelle blushed. She ran her hands over her face saying, "Umm okay...I'm really sorry," she continued awkwardly, "Look I better go."

"Jay?" asked a voice from behind. He felt his tan skin turn pale.

Spinning on his heels Jay licked his lips nervously and exclaimed, "Carlos! W-what are you doing here?"

"It's the school library," Carlos tilted his head, "I come here all the time. Question is, what are you doing here...and with Annabelle Bjorgman?"
Swinging her leather messenger bag over her shoulder, Annabelle exhaled as she walked away, "See you next week, Jay."

"Carlos look, I just needed some help to get on top of my chemistry work."

"Well why didn't you come to me? I'm great at science!"

"Because...," Jay trailed off.

Carlos lowered his voice, the hurt tone pulling at Jay's heartstrings, "Jay? Do you like her?"

"Of course not!" he said as he placed both hands on his boyfriend's shoulders, only for Carlos to tug away, "I love you Carlos and you know that."

For a moment, the pair remained silent. Both staring at the ground, Jay felt like shit.

Breaking the mute tone between the two, Carlos said half-heartedly, "I'll see you in the dorm after class." With that, he walked out of the library.

Inside Jay could feel his heart having a fit.

The entire school day, Jay found it hard to act joyful. He'd hurt Carlos by not telling him about chemistry and it really seemed to be eating away at him.

When he got back to his dorm that night, Jay made a beeline for Carlos who sat on the end of his bed with his face in a book.

"Carlos," he said, relieved as he threw his arms around the boy, "I'm sorry about the tutoring sessions," Jay buried his face in the crook of Carlos' neck.

Hesitantly, Carlos responded, "That's okay. I just don't understand why you didn't come to me for help first."

"Because I was afraid that you'd think I was stupid."

"Jay," said Carlos as he softly kissed his boyfriends cheek, "I'd never think that of you."

"So I'm forgiven?"

"Of course."
