We sat almost in complete silence. This is how it went anytime we decided to hang out.

I could hear the boy breathing in my ear, blending with the sound of the trashy alternative music.

We didn't speak.

We didn't smile.

But deep down, I valued the time we spent together.

Sitting with our backs against my cold, metal bedhead and our heads resting on one another's with both legs extended outwards, completely drowning away the outside world with music from my shitty iPod I stole from the markets; exactly the way I liked it.

I reached for a stale chip. It crunched crisply between my teeth as a garbage-like taste poisoned the inside of my mouth.

"(Y/N)?" asked Carlos, breaking the silence, "Are we friends?"

Licking my dry lips I responded with a sigh, "Maybe."

I looked out the corner of my eye and saw Carlos doing the same. We made eye contact for a moment before turning our focus to the other side of the crusty room once more.

I twirled a loose strand of my vibrant light blue hair and closed my eyes briefly.

"I hate this song," I thought out loud.

"Same," the boy muttered.

I exhaled, "So that chick Evie's back."

Carlos snapped in reply, "I know. I spoke to her in Weird Science today. Why do you care about her anyway?"

"I don't," I said as I screwed up my face, "You know that I don't care about anybody. I don't even care about you that much."

He pulled his head away from mine and smiled, "Really? You care about me?"

I opened and closed my mouth like a goldfish, lost for words. My faint blue cheeks burned pink as I stuttered, "N-no...that came out wrong."

Carlos raised an eyebrow and retorted smugly, "Aha, yep, sure thing."

"Well why did you snap when I brought up Evie?"

"Because..."

Turning to face Carlos, I looked him deep in the eye. His freckled cheeks blushed slightly. I leant in closer and tilted my head sideways; I could feel his warm breath down my cheeks. The boy bit his lip...his soft, kissable lips...

He rested his hand on top of mine sending fuzzy chills down my spinal cord. Then his lips brushed against mine; teasing me. I lifted my palm, placing it on Carlos' cheek as he wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me gently closer to him.

Smashing our lips together, the entire world disappeared. As the kiss slowly deepened, each movement became more passionate. His taste was sweet; heart-meltingly sweet. Our lips moved in perfect synchronisation as I allowed my fingers to tangle in his curly, white and black hair.

Mutually, we both pulled away from the kiss and gasped in unison, "Wait! You're straight?"

I laughed lightly and said, "Of course! Well mostly."

"But wait," Carlos chuckled, "You thought that I like guys? Exclusively?"

"Hey you can't talk; you're the one that thought that you're best...," I hesitated for a moment, "...that the person you hate the least only likes girls."

"Is it because of my dad? Because I've told you before that Hades is one hundred percent not entirely gay," I continued as I brushed a strand of my hair behind my ear.

Carlos let out a laugh. He said, "I don't know, (Y/N)...I just...nevermind, screw what we thought before," as he tugged me closer to him once more.

Rolling my eyes with a chuckle, I climbed the boy's lap and placed both hands on the back of Carlos' head. He rested his hands on my lower back as a smirk grew across his adorable face. Our lips collided once more, slowly becoming more confident with each kiss. Our mouths moved in perfect synchronisation whilst I slid my hands underneath Carlos' grey t-shirt, digging my nails into his bare back. He pulled away and began gently nibbling along my jawline. I let out a playful giggle and smiled.

On the inside, I felt warm; the warmest I'd ever felt and couldn't help but wonder if this was what love felt like.

Just as mine and Carlos' lips connected again, the rustic bedroom door swung open. "Hey, Puddin' I was wondering what time you're supposed to be going to that party because I could really use a hand downstairs moving the sofa."

I exhaled and grunted, "Dad I told you I the party started at midnight but Carlos and I were going to head over to Hell Hall soon to set up."

"Oh are you guys having a moment here? Like a straight moment?"

Before me Carlos sat lowkey laughing to himself.

"Daaaaaad," I cooed, turning my head towards the door with irritation.

Raising his hands in defence, Hades said as he walked out the room, "Okay, okay. Be safe, kids."

Resting my forehead on Carlos' shoulder, I laughed faintly.

"Okay how queer do we come across as to other people?" he said humorously as he patted the back of my head.

"Carlos?" I looked up at the boy and asked, "Are we friends?"

He licked his lips and responded with a sigh, "I think we're more than friends, (Y/N)."
