I can hear the bells..

I looked at the stranger in front of me, hopefully my future husband. The talented, smooth, funny, Toriano Adaryll Jackson.

It's spring 1970 in Encino, California and the Jackson 5 are all of the rage. I recently started working at my father's radio station and he was interviewing the boy band today. Everyone was buzzing with excitement, but especially me, I was the biggest fan of The Jackson 5ive, especially Tito.

And he was right in front of me.

I went up to them to bring them to the radio room, smiling nervously. "Uhm, hello guys.." I stood awkwardly. I was wearing a white cropped halter top and brown bell bottom pants, my hair was blown out and you know what? I liked my outfit, I thought I looked good. But now that I was face to face with the Jackson brothers, I didn't feel so sure.

They turned to me and Jackie spoke up. "Oh hey! Are you a fan? Do you want an autograph?"

I shook my head "no, I mean- yes! But no, I came to take you guys up for your interview?" I face palmed myself mentally for sounding so unsure.

Jermaine smirked at me. "Hey what's your name?" He spoke to me as I led them to the elevator.

"Oh, my name is Marley Brown.." I pushed the button for the elevator and we waited. "Sorry, the elevator is usually busy."

"Brown? Hey, like the guy interviewing us? Is there any relationship?" Michael asked and I nodded.

"Yep. That's my dad." I nodded, rocking nervously on my feet.

Marlon nodded "that's cool, so you like- meet celebrities a lot?" He asked me, genuinely interested and I nodded.

Tito looked at me, smiling. "Have I seen you before?' he asked and I shook my head.

"Probably not, I don't believe we've met." I turned to him and his face lit up.

"Oh no, I know you."

"What?"

"You were at our concert a few months ago? In Los Angeles? You were in the front row, you knew all the songs, you had on the Jackson 5ive shirt.."

Jermaine piped up. "Were you the girl with the 'I heart Tito' sign?'

Michael nodded, clasping his hands together. "Yes! I saw her too!"

The boys oo-ed playfully at me and I turned back to the elevator, my face hot with embarrassment. The door opened and we all piled inside. I pressed the button to go to the 7th floor and the door shut again.

Tito glanced at me, smiling. "There's nothing to be embarrassed about." He nudged my arm and I gulped, looking at him. We made eye contact and I got flustered all over again, turning away.

Michael spoke up. "Leave her alone Toriano, look at how red she is already.."

Jackie whispered something I don't think I was supposed to hear. "She must be really crushing, you should get her number, Tito."

Jermaine giggled "if you don't, I definitely will.."

Marlon rolled his eyes "Jermaine, do you have a limit? How many girlfriends do you have?"

"Only one. I just have so much love I've got to spread it around. I'll focus when I'm married."

Tito turned to him, dumbfounded. "..right"

I decided to speak up because they were getting distracted. "I can hear you guys."

Jackie, Marlon, and Michael bust out laughing, Tito buried his face in his and and Jermaine choked.

"Hey baby, I was kidding, I don't have a girlfriend, let me take you out."

Jackie rolled his eyes, mushing Jermaine in the face. "What a schmuck, be quiet."

I giggled softly, shaking my head. "This is unreal."

The elevator for opened and I led them down the hall to the broadcast room.

"You guys aren't due for another 7 minutes I think, we'll wait out here." I sat down outside of the room and the boys stood across the wall, whispering horribly.

"She is a brick wall.." Marlon smirked, nuding Tito. Jermaine shook his head "you're a schmuck if you don't say something, get her number."

Jackie sighed "you guys are so loud, she can probably hear you." He shook his head.

"I can."

"Sorry!" Marlon said before whispering in Tito's ear. Tito rolled his eyes before smiling.

"Hey Marley?" He asked and I looked up.

I really shouldn't be entertaining this I'm on the job and I'm supposed to be professional. But I mean, my dad left me alone with a group of teenage boys that he knew I was obsessed with so..

"Yes Tito?" I raised my eyebrows and he smiled, walking over to me.

"I hate to ask this while you're on the job, but I just wanted to know if maybe you wanted to take down my number somewhere so you can call, I'm not really too good at keeping track of things and I'd hate to lose your number."

I gulped, I was speechless, none of this felt real at all to me. I have to be dreaming..

"I'd love to just don't tell my dad.." I smiled, pulling out a notepad and taking his number down.

My dad came from down the hall smiling. "Well hello Jacksons! I see you all have met my Marley. The broadcast room is ready for you guys. Mars, can you go to my office and take calls for me?"

I nodded, smiling at the boys. "It was nice to meet you all! See you guys later.." I waved and walked down the hall to the office.

A few days later I finally got over my anxiety. I was going to call him. I picked up the phone, taking a deep breath. Then I put it back down, groaning.

"I'm so embarrassed I'm going to die.."

I picked it up again, quickly dialing his number before I could change my mind. It rang and rang and I tapped my foot anxiously.

"Hello?"

I'm going to die but, his voice is so smooth..

"Uhm, hello? This is Marley Brown."

I gulped, playing with the cord of my phone.

"Oh hey baby, how's it going?"

I froze, trying not to squeal from excitement.

"I was worried you weren't going to call.."

Still frozen.

"Hello? Marley?"

I sighed happily, smiling so hard my face hurt. "Hi, yes, sorry. It's going okay. I was trying to get over my nerves before I called you."

He let out a breathy chuckle, the smile evident on his voice. "Don't scare me like that.. hey, when can I see you again?"

I paused, looking at my calendar. "Y'know, I don't do anything but work. You're the busy one. I should be asking you that."

"Can I see you tonight?"

I froze again. My mouth felt dry, this had to be a dream. My mind went blank when I attempted to answer. "Uh- uhm.. w- y- I- uhm."

My head was reeling, I could barely think. After maybe a minute of stammering and listening to Tito chuckle over the phone, I was able to muster a response.

"I-I'm free tonight.. we can go skating?"

Tito sighed a satisfied sigh. "Okay, what time do you want me to pick you up? Hm, what's your address?"

I eventually got my address out of my stupid mouth, giggling awkwardly. "I'll see you at uhm- 7?" I gulped and he just chuckled again, soft and smooth like butter.

"Alright, see you soon, pretty."

He hung up and I slammed the phone down, squealing.

I'm gonna marry him, I can hear the bells.
