“Dad, hey. Sorry I’m a little late.”Jayda’s father pulled her into a hug the moment they arrived at the hotel Dr. Mayin had booked for their party.
“It’s alright sweetheart. I’m sorry you probably want your rest, but the wedding is scheduled for this weekend, and you need to get the bridesmaid dress tailored to fit you.”
She looked up at her dad.
“Why do I have to be in the wedding?”
“Look hon, I know you don’t like Emily, but she makes me happy, can you please just be happy for me?”
“I suppose.”
Jayda walked away from him and towards the room where Emily was getting her dress finished, Hayden began to follow but her glare stopped him in his tracks.
It took her a couple of hours before she emerged, looking as beautiful as ever in a knee length purple satin gown, her hair curled and her makeup flawless.
“There’s only one thing missing.”
Dr. Mayin said upon seeing her.
“A smile.”
She weakly tried to smile at him, but then downcast her eyes. She was trying really hard to be happy for him, but she couldn’t. Emily wasn’t right.
She had commented in the dressing room as to how rich she was going to be.
She was a gold digger, she was at least 10 years her fathers junior.
How could Jayda be happy? She was losing him.
She had no one to turn to, she had driven everyone away from her, though entirely unintentional, it had happened.
She walked to her room and changed into sweatpants. Hayden followed and stood by the door. She turned to him from where she was sitting on the bed.
"You should have stayed with your parents."
He looked up at her for a second before looking back down at the floor.
Could he have lived with himself if he had stayed?
She shook her head at him.
"There's no point in leaving the second bed empty. I'm going to sleep. You can do whatever you want."
She rolled over on bed so she faced the window.
The tears silently began to fall.
