The week goes so slowly before the Halloween party. It is Wednesday night and i have an extra cheer practice as our first competition is right around the corner.

"Sophie, I want your stunt group over here to practice." Kayla yells at me so we jog over. Our group hasn't been hitting our stunts recently so we need to put in all the extra practice we can.

"I know you don't want to Sophie but we are going to put you up in a small stunt and see how it goes okay?" Kayla negotiates with me and finally I give in. I join my group and Kayla instructs us to put up a simple liberty extension. I take a breath, wait for my count then go up. Finding me balance, i lift my arms and slowly bend and lift my leg so i am in liberty. Kayla cheers then orders me to pull a scorpion. taking another breath, i follow her orders then, when i am finished we cradle out of the stunt.

"That was fantastic!" Kayla cheers and i find myself beaming with pride.

"What happened that made you so confident?" Kayla asks as she high fives me.

"I don't know. It's... a miracle." I laugh and we return to the rest of the group.

"Right guys! i want a full run through of the routine and then you can take five!" Kayla shouts and we head to our places. I am with Madison at the front and we nod to each other and smile like always. It's our tradition.

Once the routine has finished i fall down on the mat exhausted. Madison throws me my water bottle and i chug it.

"Hey, don't barf on me after all that." She giggles. I stand, ready to run the routine again, and stretch slightly. After a while we are forced to perform again and then, finally, practice is over.

When Molly and I jump into the car, I immediately begin telling mom about my stunt.

"It was so good! I have never done something like that before..." I exclaim and mom smiles at me in the mirror.

"I'm so proud Sophie. Oh, Kaitlyn called by the way. I'm glad you guys made up." Mom informs me. When I get in the house I run to the phone and dial Kaitlyn's number.

"Hey girl hey." She picks up on the second dial.

"'Sup?"

"Do you wanna come to my house for a sleepover kinda thing on Friday before the party on Saturday?"

"Oh cool. Yeah sure."

"I'm gonna get some alcohol and stuff so just bring clothes and makeup and stuff." I sigh when I hear about the alcohol. It just reminds me of Hayes.

"Yep. I gotta go but I'll see you at school."

"'Kay! See ya!" She says then hangs up.

I am sitting stiffly in Social Studies, the last lesson of my school day on a Friday. The clock reads 2:59 so the bell is just about to ring. Miss Bridges is still going on about drugs and the effect they have on tdays society but I couldn't care less. She and th rest of the class are in a heated discussion but I turn my seat away from them. The clock hits 3:00, the bell rings and, as if they had teleported, Kaitlyn and Alyssa appear outside the door waving at me. Miss Bridges still hasn't finished the lesson so I begin to pack up my stuff and, ever so silently, I sneak out of the door and we head out to the lockers.

"Hey girls are you going to the party tomorrow?" Someone shouts down the hall. Alyssa shouts back a yes and we go to my locker. I pull out my stuffed bags (in which have a couple of bottles of booze to keep us going). I see Megan across the hall and she obviously must have heard us talking about the party as she is rolling her eyes and moaning at Hayes.
