"I have a meeting with the principal right now, so I won't be able to drop you off at home." Junhong leaned against my locker, just as I was about to close it. Lately he's been offering to drive me home, even though I say that he doesn't have to, either way, it's still a really nice gesture.
"No that's fine, I walked home before. Why are you meeting with him?"
"It's like a monthly report I have to go to. He checks up on my file to see if I've gotten into any trouble lately. They have the school nurse there too who acts as if she's a therapist and tries to tell me what's wrong with me." Junhong explained with an eye roll.
"But it's good that you haven't gotten into any trouble. Your grades have been going up too." I reminded.
"Still, I don't think he's gonna let me off that easily. All the administrators still know about my record."
"Well then, you just have to show them how much you've changed. It's not much, but maybe you can fix up your appearance. Like tucking in your shirt, fixing your hair, and try not having that glare in your eyes."
Junhong sighed and handed me his backpack and he tucked in his shirt, raised his pants, and attempted to fix his tie.
"Here let me do it, I think I can tie this," I put the tie around Junhong and I looped it until it looked crisp and clean. I then examined his hair which was a little messy. I ran my hands through it and pushed it up. "There. You look very nice."
Junhong looked at himself in my locker mirror and made a face, "You made me look like a nerd. But whatever, thanks for trying to help. I'll see you later."
I waved at Junhong as he passed me and I headed for the school exit.
"Hey babyface!"
I spun around and saw Jota jogging up to me. "Hey, you're still calling me that?"
"Yup. I like that name. Let's head home together."
"Really? You're not gonna go with HeoJun and Daewon today?"
"Nope. Today I'm all yours," Jota said as he slung his arm around my shoulder.
I smiled excitedly, "Yay, I miss hanging out with you so much."
Before heading home, we went to an icecream shop and he got pistachio ice cream while I got strawberry.
"Do you want to try this one?" He held the cone in front of me and I nodded my head.
I opened my mouth slightly until Jota moved his hand and the ice cream hit my nose. I gasped and glared at him. He on the other hand, was laughing so hard at my misfortune. "You did that on purpose."
"Yeah, you always fell for that when I asked you if you want to try my food." Jota said. It's true, when we were younger he would always trick me like that.
"I hate you. Goodbye forever." I walked off in need of a tissue to wipe the ice cream off.
"You don't hate me," Jota caught up to me and rubbed a tissue on the tip of my nose. I rolled my eyes at him and after I made sure he got all of the ice cream of off me, we started heading home.
Once we got to my doorstep, I invited Jota to come inside. The homework load was light today so that meant there was more time to hang out.
"Hey, how's Taewoon? Is he still studying at that performing arts school?" Jota asked me as we stepped inside the house.
"Oh yeahh. He really likes it there. He's so busy though that he's not able to visit home often." During our first year of high school was when Taewoon's anger problems became more apparent. After an incident that happened at school, he was expelled and spent a month in a rehabilitation center. After coming home, he completely changed and never left the house.
