Niel was in her internship at a media corp as a communication student. She was busy with setting up the cameras when Sofia texted. And after their conversation, her mood shifted, and her co-intern Jersey noticed it.
"Oy, Niel, nangyari sa'yo?" Jersey asked, bumping her shoulders with Niel's. Niel looked back at Jersey, her shoulders slumped.
"It's Sofi. Nag-aaya ng dinner pero kasama si Dom. Lul, wag na. I-date niya nalang 'yan hahahaha." Niel said with that fake sarcastic laugh that never fails to annoy people.
"Mag move on ka na kasi diyan, pre. Lam mo namang may nagugustuhan na eh. Ayaw mo dun kay Marie na kablock natin?" Jersey said, rambling on about the girls Niel could possibly like, but the latter was insistent on Sofia.
"Sey. Pitong taon ko siyang nagustuhan, sampung taon na kaming magkaibigan. Sa tingin mo ba madali 'yun bitawan?" Niel replied, looking away, going back to fixing the cameras.
"And in that 7 years, do you think Sofia had thought of you the same way? Look Niel, sinasabi ko lang... You're too attached to the girl.. baka masaktan ka pag naging sila nung Dom." Jersey said, just wanting Niel to choose herself for once because she didn't want to see her like this— see her comforting the girl with the words she wished to hear also.
After a week, Niel decided to give it a shot with Marie after finding out Dom and Sofia had ended up together since that night. She hit her up and talked to her. She realized how Marie was different from Sofia, just by the way she acted towards Niel.
She didn't make Niel feel invisible, as she was more considerate about what Niel would feel on her choice of words, and also by the way she acted.
Over time, their relationship grew closer, with the both of them getting attached. But even with all that, Niel felt bad because there was still a spot in her that loved Sofia.
