The icy wind bites my skin as I bolt to keep up with her pace

The icy wind bites my skin as I bolt to keep up with her pace.

She races against the speed of time, not once looking back.

Her caramel locks bounce with each desperate step.

"Don't come after me, Anaya!" she vociferates, "It's me they're after! Go and save yourself!"

Despite her warnings, I refuse to turn back.

Not even the moon and stars can pierce through the darkness that engulfs us.

"I'm never going to stop," I holler by the time we approach the edge of the cliff.

At the periphery, Lolita swings her restless gaze to me after whirling around for the first time.

Beyond the periphery lies an infinite seabed of lava.

The lava resembles the interior of a turbulent furnace as it erupts in volatility, poised to devour anything in sight.

Her eyes reflect a world of sorrow as the unshed tears are desperate to escape.

"You need to live your life and protect yourself," her voice is solemn, "If you don't. . ."

She pauses before gesturing at something behind me.

"They'll come for you next!"

I follow her gaze before whirling around.

With widened eyes, I recognize the faces of Sofia Volkov, Landford, Moreno Vilinski, Dixon, and an unidentifiable man behind a mask.

I struggle to gasp for air, unable to stomach their presence.

Before I can meet Lolita's gaze once more, she leaps past the edge of the cliff before the seabed of lava swallows her out of existence.

"Lolita!" I howl repeatedly before sprinting to the edge.

A waterfall of tears escapes me as I flop down on my knees to the ground.

"How could you abandon me to face these monsters alone?!" I scream in lamentation.

The scenery disappears in a flash before I rapidly find myself in another dimension.

Huffing uncontrollably, I jolt into consciousness.

A cloud of tremor hovers over me; my face drenched in sweat.

There goes the 50th nightmare.

I don't know how long I stare into the void as I stay in the same position.

Once I grow cognizant of my surroundings, I glance at the digital clock on my nightstand.

4:46 am.

I unwrap the quilt from my body before hopping out of my bed.

After making a beeline for the kitchen, I yank the fridge door open before grabbing any bottle of water I can find.

The cold liquid invades my palette, managing to calm my nerves.
