The morning after, I wake up to an unusual sensation.

As I adjust my heavy lids to process my surroundings, I freeze at the sight before me.

My cheek is pressed against a solid chest as sturdy arms envelop me.

Seconds pass before I recognize Ludovic, who's asleep as I'm nestled in his arms.

How did we get in this position?

My heart starts to beat aggressively.

The way his arms protectively enclose me makes me feel nothing but safety.

He looks so peaceful when he's sleeping.

His chest gently heaves up and down beneath my body and I can't help but relax as I watch him sleep.

Doing my best not to wake him, I throw a quick glance at the digital clock on the desk across the other side of the room.

7:15 AM

It usually takes me longer to fall asleep at night due to racing thoughts.

But last night, sleep came to me easily.

Before I can continue to observe him in silence, his eyelids slowly begin to part.

The sleepiness on his expression slowly dissipates once he becomes cognizant of his environment.

His ocean eyes study me in intricacy.

"Good morning," he greets in drowsiness.

With my palm connected to his chest, I stir in his arms.

"Morning," I respond in shyness, "Hope you slept well."

With a closed smile, he nods.

"I did, you?"

"I did."

We hold eye contact for another few minutes.

"Let me know when you're ready to head home," he suggests.

Home.

I used to have an abstract view of what home was.

My home is all I've ever considered my place of retreat, away from the chaotic outside world.

But maybe, home doesn't just have to be a single place.

Because at this moment, I've never felt more at home next to him.

"Okay," I nod, "I'll quickly freshen up."

A part of me secretly wishes we could stay like this for a bit longer.

But I have to come back to my senses before I can fall too deep.

Once we break contact, Ludovic adjusts his back against the bed headrest as I remove the bed cover.
