I can't remember the last time I cried as much.
The only time I can think of is the night after I found out Lolita was murdered.
Suffice to say, I ended up soaking Ludovic's frontal jacket.
But judging by the way he gave me a safe space to cry as long as needed, I don't think he seemed to mind.
Later, he drives us to an unknown destination.
I don't question it, allowing myself to let go of my need to always be in control.
It's not until the vehicle halts near a lake that he unbuckles his seat belt.
"Mind if we go out for a bit?" he breaks the silence.
With dry cheeks, I gently nod.
After unbuckling my seatbelt, I trail his steps before we approach the lakeshore.
The landscape view of the colossal lake greets us.
Ludovic is first to occupy a nearby bench as I marvel at the sight before me.
From a distance, fluorescent skyscrapers pretend to be stars.
The calm waters reflect the skylines and city lights at night, a view that takes my breath away.
"Want some?"
I swing my gaze behind me to meet his.
With an extended hand, Ludovic gestures to the wrap in his clutch.
My stomach gurgles in anticipation.
The sight of food is enough to remind me that I'm starving.
"Where did you get this?" I ask in curiosity.
Ludovic shrugs, "I figured I should kill time while waiting for you. So I stopped by at a street market nearby."
In spontaneity, I grasp the wrap from his clutch.
"Thank you," I say in gratitude before securing a seat next to him.
He digs right into his wrap as his eyes are glued to the view.
The sound of the currents calms my nerves as they oscillate from the shore back to the water body.
I take my first bite of the chicken wrap before an explosion of flavors fills my palate.
"It's delicious," I remark after I finish chewing.
Since his side profile faces me, I don't get to see his grin fully.
"Glad to hear it,"
The tranquility of the moment makes me yearn for every day to be like this.
It's amazing how someone whom I used to hate months ago is the same person I've fallen in love with.
