The next day, all I can think about is The Gifted Foundation.

As soon as the meeting with Cohen ended last night, I went down a rabbit hole to find any information about the nonprofit that could contribute to the investigation.

Was Lolita a member of this nonprofit?

Is that how Egan and her met in the first place?

Up until yesterday's meeting, I was under the impression that Lolita met Egan in high school among a group of delinquents who influenced her to join SARC.

If the Gifted Foundation was the same program Egan was referring to when we met, was the nonprofit part of some conspiracy to actively recruit intelligent individuals to execute top-secret missions, such as money laundering?

What started as a thirty-minute search about the nonprofit ended up lasting hours.

One of the things that stood out to me was that the nonprofit was inactivated months following Sofia Volkov's death.

As revealed by Cohen, it is close to impossible to find any pictures of Sofia on the internet other than the picture Cohen provided to us last night.

Just who exactly was Sofia Volkov?

What was her connection to Moreno Vilinski?

And did Lolita know Volkov?

Before my search could drag me deeper into a rabbit hole, I had to force myself to halt my research to be able to wake up early for work the next day.

I do my best to push thoughts about the GF to the back of my head, to focus on my tasks at the office.

Minutes at the office turn to hours, and the next thing I notice are the digits of the clock signaling:

4 pm.

On autopilot, I arrange the files on my desk before rushing to the main entrance of Varos headquarters.

As expected, I spot Ludovic's vehicle a few feet away from the revolving door amidst the hustle and bustle of employees exiting the building.

Even though I expressed that I could visit Caiden in prison by myself, he insisted that he wanted to accompany me.

Despite his busy work schedule, he made sure to avoid working overtime to accompany me to Florida.

"You're sure about this?" I ask Ludovic once I enter the car to buckle my seatbelt.

With one hand clutching the steering wheel, he holds my gaze with his piercing eyes.

"I told you I don't mind," he mutters, "Wherever you go, I follow."

Pretending like my heart isn't combusting, I hold his gaze for what seems like eons.

He starts the car before we're off to our destination.
