"Hand me something to stop the blood!" I yelled at Prince Xander. The blood was still pouring out from the fleshy wound on the man's abdominal. I press the cloth onto the man's wound as I checked if he had a pulse. Nothing..... No beat. I press both palms onto his chest and applied pressure in a constant motion. We needed to start CPR.
" Xander, take my place. " I said as his hands began compressing, mimicked my movements a few moments ago.
"He's not breathing," gestured Xander as he continued applying pressure to the man's heart.
"That's why I'm going to start CPR!" I was going to start preforming mouth to mouth resuscitation in order for the guy to live, when 2 rough hands pushed me back.
"What the hell!" I yelled at Xander.
"What the fuck is wrong with you? Are you really going to do CPR on him?" Xander shot back.
I look at my patient I just claimed. He was a young man, about 20, with a gash that ran across his face. His fleshy lips bulged out and became a quite blue and were swelling. But it didn't matter; we were talking about someone's life here.
"He's going to die, Xander!"
"Well, that's better than you placing your lips on his." He commented as he crossed his arms against his chest. I rolled my eyes. He was quite jealous, was he?
"That's what it's about, isn't it?" My gaze fixed into his empty eyes. He didn't answer. Oh for goodness sake. I knew that if I approach the man in any meaning of preforming CPR, Xander will haul me and leave the man bleed to death and if I suggested for Xander to preform CPR, we would still be here arguing. I had to take the chance. I groan at the thought, but I had no choice.
"Fine, Xander! Go call the guards while I stitch him up." I lied. He eyed me once more and proceeded away. Hmm... I glance at the wound that was still oozing with blood. I could see the gruesome tear at him abdominal, it was pretty deep. OK, concentrate, i can do this.
I hovered my blood stained hand over his fleshy wound. Then something trickled across my finger as i peeled my eyes open. I did it! A soft white light spread to the man's wound as the wound began to close. I continued to apply the force until the wound was shallow. That's all I could have managed, because then it would become suspicious that there was no wound at all. Then suddenly I hear him gasp for air.
"That's right breath." I encouraged as I placed my hands at the side of his head. His blue eyes peeled open as they scanned what was happening.
"Where am I?" His lips quivered.
"It's alright, your safe. What's your name?" I ask him as I grab his hand.
"Jackso-" he stopped when he glanced down at his abdominal wound, the guy, I just semi-healed, gasped for air, collapsed again and yet fainted because of the blood. I place my ear over his chest checking if he was breathing again. Yes, his chest rose gracefully off the ground as his heart beat a little faster.
I replaced the bloody red cloth with gauze as Xander and the guards made their way towards me. My work was done for now, only the real work was when I go inside. I will then stitch him up and attend to him after we examine and tend more to his other wounds; Especially, the gash across his face. I glanced closer at the bloody gash. It wasn't a knife that slid across his face; it was more like claws of a wild animal. I shiver went down my spine at the thought, while the guards hauled the injured man to the castle.
Xander glanced down at me, and I ignored him. The fact that he would let the young man die and not let me help him and finish my duty as a healer, was sickening. Yes, I interrupted him with his midnight love but I don't care. He had to stop acting like a moody bitch. But then I should be grateful that he let me out, because couple of days ago he made it clear that I can't step out of the castle's door and help people. He thinks that he can boss me around? Well, technically yes, because he was the crowned prince but no because I don't want to be here. Well he can kiss my foot on that.
But then right before I enter the grand door, I turn around and gaze into the forest until my eyes land on something deadly familiar and quite dangerous. My heart leaped as those golden eyes pierced into mine in the silent night. But then they vanished leaving me with a tug in my hand. I glance up, and it's Xander that's pulling me in the beautiful prison. My secret isn't safe anymore, those golden eyes had watched my weave my gift and heal the man it had attacked. My heart sank a little bit more. This wasn't the end but the beginning, I wasn't safe anymore. These words seemed to echo and pound again and again in my head.....
And then I snap back into reality.
