3rd Person POV
Rachel's jaw dropped the moment she entered the palace once more, her jaw hanging ajar at the news that was shared with her.
"Unbelievable! What did the queen do about this conception!?" Rachel asked, her arms shuddering at the sight of five lifeless beheaded bodies lying in the palace's entrance.
"We have still not informed her. B-but his highness had retreated to his rooms after he murdered five of our staff members."
"Why did he do it, do you know?" Rachel quivered, feeling Ashley next to her still.
The maid shrugged, terror beneath her sickened gaze. "H-he was furious. All he did was call out your name and demand where you were every second! He had a couple of guards go find and fetch you. But when they came empty handed, he swiped them of their lives, as if it was so normal to kill like that!"
Rachel gulped, biting her lower lip, nervousness eating her body.
"What shall you do, milady?"
"I-I....I will confront him since he had called upon my presence." Rachel murmured, knowing that she had no choice because then, Xander would continue his rampage on the innocent beings in this palace.
For all she knew, the Queen must be unconcerned if the news had confronted her despite what Lizzy told her.
"YOU MUST NOT! HE MIGHT DO SOMETHING TO YOU!" Lizzy cried, grasping Rachel's arm.
"I have to do it, or he won't stop until he finds me."
Lizzy nodded taking a step back, bowing to her lady and taking her leave. Rachel heard Ashley breathe harshly, her hands around her flat stomach.
"You do not have that type of power anymore to stop him, Rachel."
Rachel looked down. "I know, the darkness within me that you have destroyed, was the only thing keeping him at bay. Just as long I do not render them back, they won't invade my mind."
Ashley hugged her friend, knowing how much pain Rachel endured to release the evil possession in her mind.
"Darkness is more powerful than light, you know?" Rachel whispered in Ashley's ear.
Ashley shook her head. "At first, it might seem so, but at the end, after you have everything, darkness will not bring you mercy. It will bring you solitude and the longness of something foreign....Something you still need even though you conquered the world. You'll be searching for light, even though you cannot have whilst having darkness."
"I know." Rachel breathed, standing up straight, ready to face the beast that awaited her.
So Rachel walked, her eyes painfully strained away from the corpses on the floor, and made her way to the throne room. She had a feeling that his majesty would be in there, gathered in his monstrous thoughts.
This was not the first time Xander had killed guards for no justifiable reason. He had done it out of blood thirstiness and his unbearable temper. If only the king was here to witness his son's frowned upon formalities.
Rachel didn't bother to knock on the throne room, and busted her way through, her suspicions correct. There, once more, stood Xander in the corner, thinking to himself.
He was first to speak. "Where were you?"
His voice was surprisingly calm but dangerously low.
"That's none of your concern. I am here now, what do you need of my presence?"
