Clark was still on his phone, listening to Perry White yelling at a volume that could burst a normal human's ear drums. He never knew he could sigh so much in a minute's time until now.

He was just about to heave another sigh when he heard an uproar of terror from where he was just a minute ago. He swivelled his head around and saw the crowd going ruckus.

Bruce...

He didn't even bother explaining anything, he hung up on his boss and took a sprint at the crowd to see what exactly was going on. It seemed like there were more people than when he left. What the hell is happening...

"Bruce!" He yelled as he tried making his way through the crowd, scanning all around. He tried picking up Bruce's heartbeat and when he eventually did, it only made him panic more. It was uneven.

"Bruce, where are you!?" Clark noticed people rushing to the centre of the crowd where the performers were and he stretched his neck out to try and see what was happening. Was it....blood on the ground?

Clark noticed a familiar figure standing a few steps in front of him and instantly rushed forward. "Bruce! What happened!?" He checked him for any wounds. When he saw Bruce was hardly responding to anything, he followed his gaze that was fixed deep into the crowd in front of them.

Clark saw the boy among the three performers kneeling on the ground, his eyes wide open, just staring at the ground in front. The adults were nowhere in sight, instead there was a pool of blood on the ground.

Clark had an assumption of what could have possibly happened and lifted his head to look up, confirming his doubts. Broken ropes hung from the ceiling. Clark swallowed hard. He looked down at Bruce and saw him just staring at the boy without blinking.

Clark could tell what was going through his head. "Hey", he embraced Bruce, holding his head close to his chest. "Let's get out of here, Bruce". Bruce stumbled behind him as Clark held his hand, leading the way.

The ride back home was silent. Clark glanced at Bruce every now and then. But that was it. Bruce spent most of the time just staring out the window.

"Go home, Clark. It's getting late" Bruce muttered out as soon as he stepped out of the car. Clark heaved a sigh.

He undid his seatbelt in a hurry and rushed after the other man. "Hey Bruce", he called in a soft voice as he clasped Bruce's shoulder, turning him around. Clark could clearly see that he was exhausted.

Bruce started to shake his hand away and Clark just pulled him into a tight hug. "Hey, I know what you're thinking", he heaved yet another sigh. "There was nothing you could do. It's okay, you're only human".

Bruce tried hard to swallow the lump that rose in his throat. It physically hurt.

It took every strength in him to not cry into Clark's shoulder. What right did he have to do that ....

"I'm here for you" Clark rubbed circles on Bruce's back. "It's okay, you're okay".

Bruce didn't know what came over him. Suddenly the World felt too big for him. But he found comfort in the warmth of the person holding him. At the moment, that was all he needed. No matter how hard he tried to fight it, the muscles of his face kept spasming. His lips kept pulling lower and tears started pricking the back of his eyes. And before he knew it, tears ran down his face.

Clark didn't talk anymore. He just stood there holding him. And at the moment, they weren't Superheroes with the weight of the world on their shoulders, they were just two men that loved each other enough to find comfort in each other's embrace.
