Tobi Asher (3rd POV)
"Princess Lucy! Princess Lucy! Your father requests your pretense!" Shouted a jester. Tobi and Laxus had walked Lucy back to her room. The poor blonde was shooken up. Although she knew the rebels were vicious, she didn't know how vicious they could be.
Tobi pitied her. Her father didn't so much as care for her when she arrived after the attack, and now he expected her to be at his beck and call?
A very bandaged Laxus looked at the jester straight in the eye.
"Tell his majesty Princess v requires a brief break. She's seen a lot today."
"I cannot do that. His majesty requires Princess Lucy's precense at once. No exceptions." The jester himself seemed not to agree with his orders. He himself could see Lucy's state of shock. Tobi could tell by the look in his eyes he had refused his orders in the first place.
"As Lucy Heartfillia's personal bodyguard, I wi-"
"No, I'll go." Lucy's voice was harsh and quiet when she spoke. Infact, she was so quiet that both Tobi and Laxus didn't recognize it was her who had spoke. Only the jester noticed.
"Of course, Hime."
-10 Minutes Later-
"Lucy, my daughter. Despite the actions that have occurred today, we must continue on our search for your future husband. The Selection will continue tomorrow. Be prepared, for you will meet all thirty-four boys tomorrow." Jude Heartfillia was also a blonde. Sitting upon his throne with a golden beard to match his golden throne, he looked powerful. He also looked like a man who got what he wanted whenever he wanted.
Tobi piped up. Even though he should have kept his mouth shut, he piped up.
"Permission to speak, sir?"
King Jude noticed this boy who dared to walk in behind his beloved daughter. This boy was born on the streets in some backwash home. King Jude didn't like this boy, period. He did have manners though.
"Who exactly is this that speaks for permission?" Laxus responded first, fearing for what Tobi has just done.
"Tobi Asher, sir. Participant of the Selection. He is the reason Princess Lucy made it to the palace safely, your majesty." Laxus said the last two words differently, like a warning to Tobi. Suddenly, it became clear. The Ming preferred to be recognized as Your Majesty than Sir.
"Tobi Asher....... Well, Tobi, on behalf of transporting my daughter here safely, I will grant you permission to speak." The King said Tobi's name like he had hated it all his life. Like it was the bane of his existance.
"Thank you, your majesty. Princess Lucy witnessed a man, one of her personal body guards, murdered before her. Officer Carlos died protecting her, and I'm sure that has shooken her up. If I may-" the King cut Tobi off with a wave of his hand.
"Do you think I'm foolish child? I already knew this. And quite frankly, my daughter should be strongn enough to withstand that shock."
It took all Tobi had to not launch himself across the room and punch the King.
"Now, now, dear. I think the boy has a point. Give my daughter three days, I'm sure that will be enough." Said the queen, Layla Heartfillia.
Suddenly, someone spoke up behind Tobi. It was a familair voice, granted that the person who was speaking helped to raise Tobi.
"I vouch for the kid. Give the princess three days." Said Gildarts, Tobi's father. Gildarts gave Tobi a smirk while Tobi just gawked.
Jude did the classic bearded king thing to do and stroked his beard while considering everything.
"Very well. She will get three days, but in the fourth we will continue the selection. Consider yourself lucky, young man. Gildarts here is my most trusted advisor."
Tobi bowed and exited the room with Laxus and Lucy.
Once they were outside, Laxus grabbed Tobi and held his shoulder.
"Tobi, you do know what you just did, right?" Laxus asked seriously. Tobi was confused.
"No, what did I do?" He asked.
"You just defied the My father. That won't look good. A male from the streets, defying the King? He basically sees you as a rebel now." Lucy warned. Suddenly, the confident Tobi faltered.
"I wouldn't worry about the King." Said a male voice behind everyone.
Who else could it be? Who else knew about Tobi that cared enough to lend a few words?
"Gildarts Clive." Laxus breathed.
Gildarts, the disappearing father. Had just shown himself twice in a day.
