Erza was sleeping peacefully in her apartment, Jellal on the other side of her bed.

The sound of someone knocking on her wooden door awoke the red beauty, forcing her to walk the already memorized steps to her door.

"Hello?" Erza said as she peered through the door. Whoever was standing outside her door wore a light brown jacket and a pearl necklace. Erza was so sleepy that she probably wouldn't remember this.

"Hi, Erza. May I come in?" Lucy asked through the door. Wow, if Erza wasn't earlier, she was now. The door launched itself open, and soon both females were sitting across from each other in Erza's new living room.

Lucy sipped from the small brown coffee mug Erza had offered when she suddenly decided to get to business.

"So Erza, by now, I'm sure that you know we are at war with Russia." Lucy started. How should she continue? She didn't have a clue.

"Yes, I've noticed." Erza said while remembering the commercial a few hours ago.

"Some people signed up from your home town." Lucy said, evasively. What would she do when she found out?

"Who signed up?" Erza asked, her red brows rising in sudden curiosity. She couldn't think of even one person from their home town that would sign up. Except for-.....

"I think there were 3 from your home town." Lucy again said in an evasive tone.

"Lucy, tell me who." Erza said, her annoyance reaching its max.

"You know exactly who." Lucy then stood up and excused herself from Erza's apartment.

Of course Erza knew.

The first two would be Simon and Kagura, both of which she knew that liked Tobi as a brother.

The last would be Tobi himself.

------

It had been another two days since Tobi had returned home and signed the papers to be a soldier in the war. In those two days, the Selection had continued.

One particular segment that stood out was when the current members would present why they were fit to be king. Most of them sounded like politicians, completely boring voices and long, non-ending sentences. Until Natsu stood up. What he said was so simple and yet so powerful at the same time.

"I should be king because Lucy is mine and no one else's." Natsu stepped off camera, his smile nearly blinding the screen.

"Tobi, time to go." called a male. Tobi walked down the stairs to find Simon, a bulky man about his age with dark-blue hair and black eyes.

Tobi slowly took in a breath as he saw Kagura, Simon's little sister, sitting on his couch. She had already helped herself to a heaping bowl of food and devoured it by the time Tobi came back down.

Although Tobi thought she was beautiful, he couldn't help but compare her to Erza. Oh, how he missed Erza. Anything could remind him of her, the mouse that would sometimes wake him at night with its constant running across his floor, the bedroom they shared back on his

Thoughts of Erza still screamed in his thoughts, threatening to make him keel over in pain.

The hurt registered on his face for only a split second, then his expression returned to normal.

"Time to go to boot camp, right?" Tobi asked Simon.

"Once we reach boot camp, there's no going back. You know this, right?" Simon looked Tobi in the eye, trying to get him to say his true feelings right then and there.

And it worked.

"There's nothing left for me in this life anymore. Why not go out with a bang, right?"

-20 Minutes Later-

Tobi was waiting to board the train that would take him to the boot camp in which Simon the instructor there, would teach him everything he needed to know in order to be a proper soldier.

"Tobi!" Someone shouted behind him. Tobi's ears perked up as soon as he heard the pitch of the voice. As if he had just seen a ghost, he turned around to find the beautiful female who had just run the six miles from the airport straight there.

"Erza." Tobi breathed.
