Chapter 18 : "The Bad Feeling"

A/N hi guys! So I know, your all probably gonna kill me for that last chapter. SORRY. MUST INCREASE DRAMA LEVELS OVER 9,000!!!!!

Even though her hands were clasped over her ears, nothing could stop the sounds of Tobi's screams. How many times had he been whipped already? Ten? Twenty?

She could feel herself slowly slipping into madness, her soul being tainted by the horrific actions of her father. Despite that, one emotion kept her sane. Anger. She was furious at Tobi for volunteering himself to take her place when it should have been her that took the four lashings.

And suddenly, it dawned on her.

Tobi was offering himself as a shield because he too loved Lucy. She saw it for a brief moment in his eyes as she hissed at him earlier.

There's a needle in her arm and Lucy soon loses all connection with the outside world.

-After-

The nurses were working hard on Tobi, trying to keep him from feeling pain. Despite their best efforts, Tobi was still screaming in pain. He had been moved to the infirmary as soon as Jude had finished his sixty lashes. One of the nurses, Lisanna Strauss, could hardly believe that this man had sustained sixty lashes and remained conscious afterwards.

As she was helping apply the salve to his wounds, she couldn't help but think that Lucy Heartfilia was very lucky to have a man like Tobi.

She suddenly remembered the words Natsu had spoken to her earlier that day.

"I don't think I can live anymore. "

-Lay Timeskip And POV Switch-

Ezra was out in the town with Jellal. She was loving every minute of it, but something in her gut felt wrong.

They were eating at a cafe when Jellal noticed that something was bugging her.

"What's wrong?" Asked the blue haired male.

"Something's wrong....... " Ezra was frowning. She couldn't quite wrap her mind around the thought but she knew that something had happened.

"Something like....?" Jellal sounded jealous. He had a right to be jealous, seeing as how Erza refused to throw away her engagement ring Tobi has given her earlier.

"I don't know." Erza answered truthfully.

Did something happen to Tobi?

Suddenly, she was remembering the time when Tobi was nearly killed by Hades. She could still see the look of his eyes as he fell, ever so slowly, to the ground.

Erza knew that something was wrong. She abruptly stood up and rushed out of the cafe. Jellal left a tip on the table and ran after.

"Erza?! Where are you going?!" Jellal demanded. Erza ignored him and continued walking away. Where she was going, she didn't want him.

"Somewhere." She brushed him off and lost him in the crowd.

She had to find Tobi. Like it or not, she was still in love with him.

And find him she did. Six hours later, in the hospital with sixty lashes on his body. He was hooked up to a machine that counted his heart beats and would beep at each heart beat.

The machine was silent.
