A/N Sorry I haven't been updating! I was away at a 3-day camp for the weekend! Sorry!!
The next day, Tobi was allowed to leave the hospital. Everything about him was fine, but every now and then he'd black out with the look of sadness in his eyes.
Erza noted this.
Erza's own wounds would never fully heal. Sure, they'd disappear from sight but her most deep wounds would never heal. They have a slight chance to bleed profusely. Erza knew what this meant.
No straining herself.
Tobi also disappears at times, only to reappear hours later.
Erza also noted this.
Two days after he was released, Tobi disappeared for hours. Usually, he'd come home within an hour or two but it had been six hours and Tobi still didn't return to his room.
Lucy decided to look for him. Despite the Selection having resumed, she'd gotten permission to see Tobi. Tobi, despite being released two days ago, till hadn't seen Lucy at all. She had checked his room and found that he disappeared. After talking to Erza, she discovered that he always went to a tree near the outskirts of the city, although she wouldn't tell her what he did there.
Why did she want to see Tobi? Aftr all, Lucy was sure she loved Natsu. But really, what was her definition of love? Her heart beats incredibly fast whenever they're together, she acts differently around Natsu, and Natsu had stolen her first kiss. Ever.
But what about Tobi? Whenever she was with Tobi, she felt safe, she felt happy, she felt loved....... why didn't she feel loved when she was with Natsu? What did Tobi do that made her feel like this?
Lucy found the tree Erza was talking about earlier. She noticed it's great height, and the fact that someone was punching the tree violently. Every second, Lucy came closer. Every step she took drew her in more. That couldn't be Tobi punching the tree, could it?
And then she heard the sobbing.
Lucy could finally see that indeed it was Tobi attacking the tree. Although she couldn't see his eyes, she could tell that tears were streaming down his face. His knuckles were already bloodied, his fists sore.
Why was he punching the tree? Lucy would find that out. She ran towards the dark-haired male and stepped in between him and the tree.
"Tobi! Stop! What the heck are you doing!?" Lucy was determined to find out why he was doing this.
"it....It's my fault." Tobi muttered under his sobs. When he noticed Lucy, he had dropped to his knees, his arms supporting himself.
Lucy's heart melted as Tobi's tears stained the grass.
"What's your fault?" Lucy asked. She had also fell down to hr knees to meet his level and placed a reassuring hand on his back.
"Erza.... the reason Erza's so injured..... i-....it's all my fault." Tobi suddenly pulled Lucy into an embrace. His tears were now landing on her bright yellow dress, but she didn't care. Why was he like this? Why was he blaming himself for Erza's injuries?
"No, it's not Tobi. It's Grimiore Heart's fault." Lucy said to the male.
"I....I couldn't fight them....." Tobi was sobbing even more hard into her shoulder.
Lucy could tell that wasn't the only thing that had happened. There was something else, deep inside of himself that he didn't want to tell anyone.
Something in her expression must have given her thoughts away because Tobi told her exactly what that was after pulling away and looking at her.
Tobi wiped a few more tears from his eyes, but they continued to stream down his face.
"Erza...... she....... she told me she loved someone else...... someone named Jellal......." If Tobi was crying earlier, then he was balling now. He cried even harder into his hands, tears slipping from the distance between his fingers.
Lucy pulled him back into a hug, one of which Tobi didn't break his hands away from his face. And suddenly, Lucy knew exactly what her feelings were.
"Tobi.... Erza may not love you...... but-......but I do."
