Chapter9. : "A Kiss Of Dreams"

It had been three days since Tobi's preach, and as promised, King Jude continued the Selection. Right now, Lucy was to meet with the other thirty-four young men who had come to be a candidate or Lucy's husband. To save Lucy time, King Jude arranged for her to meet half of the men today and half tomorrow.

And throughout all of this, Tobi was worried. Of course, Lucy had recovered from her experiences enough to continue talking and socializing with people.

If the beautiful blonde had recovered from her experiences, why was Tobi worried? It wasn't something with her smile, the way she talked, or the way she responded. It was her eyes. Her brown eyes were filled with sadness and regret.

She was blaming herself for Carlos' death. At certain points in a conversation, Lucy would stop responding and black out. She'd just stare at a point in time, away from her seat. The poor girl was suffering.

And even worse, there was nothing Tobi could do. He didn't want to anger the king again, despite the king not being in the same room.

Natsu however, thought differently.

"Lucy! Can you come with me for a second?" asked the salmon haired male. He grabbed Lucy's arm and left the room.

-Lucy-

"Mm Hmm." Lucy responded to the boy sitting in front of her. He had raven hair and dark blue eyes to match. His hair was spiky, pointing out in all different ways. It reminded her of Natsu.

'What was his name again? Gray?'

Somehow, the thought of Natsu transformed into the thought of Carlos. Her vision started fading, and soon she had spaced out again. The poor girl was lost in her thoughts.

Her own thoughts were trapping her, keeping her confined in her own mind. Thoughts like

"It's all my fault...."

"Carlos...."

"I'm sorry for being useless."

Kept Lucy inside of her mind.

"Lucy!" someone shouted. The voice sounded familiar and was full of concern. Just as she was about to return, the thought of Carlos pulled her away.

-Natsu-

'Damn it! She's not waking up!' thought the dragon-slayer.

No matter what he did, Natsu couldn't return Lucy. Natsu could only think of one thing to do.

'Maybe that'll work.... but last time I tried, she kicked me.'

With only one choice, Natsu did what he could.

Natsu kissed Lucy. It was a long, deep, and passionate kiss.

It was enough for Lucy to wake up.

'N-Natsu's... Kissing me!?' the blonde thought to herself.
