Chapter 31 : "Sealed Blades Of Doom"

Igneel fought against Achnologia ferociously. What ever happened, he couldn't allow Achnologia to touch the "Tower Of Heaven". That would resurrect Zeref, and no one wanted him alive again.

Suddenly, as both Igneel and Achnologia glared at each other, Achnologia turned his head towards the shore. The black dragon opened its mouth and fired its roar at someone standing on the shore. One name came to his mind when he saw the female.

Kagura Mikazuchi. What was she doing!? She should be trying to run, trying to save other lives. Instead, she chose to come here and die!? What an idiotic girl.

Igneel was so busy contemplating why Kagura was standing there to notice her sudden increase in power.

"Sword of the heavens, I call thee." As Kagura chanted her spell, a white magic circle appeared underneath her. A sword made of pure white energy lifted itself from the circle, the hilt rising before the blade. "Release thy restraints and grant me infinite power, Tengoku no Fenikkusu no ken!" (Heavenly Phoenix Sword) Kagura pulled the sword from where it floated and swung the blade. Achnolgia's attack was cut in half instantly, leaving nothing but a memory behind.

Igneel stared at the girl in fascination. How did she obtain such power? More importantly, how powerful had she become? Those questions she would have to answer later as Achnologia stood before him.

Igneel turned towards his opponent, the grim determination evident in his eyes.

Erza had made it to Siegrain and his "Tower Of Heaven". After flying, she reached the top to find Siegrain smirking evilly at her.

"Erza, I knew you'd come." Siegrain nearly laughed as everything was going to plan.

"I don't care, Siegrain. All i care about is that you're trying to destroy the human race." Erza growled. She requipped one heppof her many blades and pointed it at Siegrain.

"You mean you haven't noticed? The other rebels, the more passive rebels have gathered. 'Fairy Tail', I think is what they call themselves. Such foolish minds, really. They rallied so quickly behind me once I told them that I would bring the palace to shambles." Siegrain laughed, his eyes somehow reddening.

"Even if that is true, nothing will stop me from killing you, here and now." Erza nearly charged the laughing bluenette before he raised his hand for a moments pause.

"Erza my dear, we both know that you're just mad I played you like a doll." Siegrain taunted her.

"YOU WILL DIE!" Erza shouted as she leapt forward, unable to keep her cool any longer.

Tobi had reunited with Future Rogue, Meredy, and Ultear. As usual, Ultear's eyes scoured the city, looking for anyone in need of help. Meredy was trying to contact Jellal through telepathy, and Rogue watched the battle with Achnologia and Igneel with interest. Too much interest.

"What do we do now?" Tobi asked as he jogged to the group. In answer,Future Rogue knocked Meredy away with a heavy punch.

"Meredy!" Ultear shouted in surprise. She quickly moved to her side, only to find Future Rogue behind her. Just as he was about to deliver her death blow, someone stopped the attack.

Future Rogue was launched away, caught by surprise. Tobi wasn't the one who stopped the attack, no it certainly wasn't him. Instead, the current Rogue was the one who intercepted the attack.

"So..... You're me from the future." Rogue slowly said as he tried to anticipate the next move.

Suddenly, Tobi noticed something. It was a power that was growing exponentially. It filled Tobi's soul with dread.

"Zeref..... Has awakened." Future Rogue announced as he too turned around in fear.

Siegrain was on his knees, completely overpowered by the enraged Erza. The tip of her blade pointed at Siegrain's head as she awaited for him to surrender.

"Erza..... I'm sorry." Siegrain suddenly spoke as his arms went limp. That statement caught Erza off guard, making her hesitate. Siegrain took that as his opportunity and struck out at Erza's legs. Erza lost her blade, and now Siegran was about to deliver the final blow.

"Heavenly Body Magic, Expolsion Burst!" Siegrain launched himself into the tower, Erza's death an imminent moment.

Erza opened her eyes. She was dead, for sure. Do was she? The sun was blinding her eyes......

'Wait, the sun?' Erza opened her eyes to see something amazing.

Laxus Dreyar, personal guard to Lucy Heartfilia, had entered the fray. Crossing his ar,s above his head, he easily blocked the attack. Then, he kicked Siegrain away with a swift move of his legs and upper body.

"How's it going, sis?" Laxus greeted.

Tobi was watching Rogue fight his counterpart when he heard something behind him. Suddenly, an explosion sounded and Ultear was blown away from Meredy. Tobi ran to her, hoping that she was ok.

She wasn't. A large portion of her lower rib cage was missing. Her left arm was severed in the explosion.

"T-Tobi....." Ultear breathed. "P-please....k-kill....h-h-him." Ultear closed her eyes, her final wish having been spoken.

Tobi stood up from her body, his fists now enclosed.

"Zeref." Tobi whispered under his breath. A ways away, he could see the Mage who needed Ultear's life. His face said that he didn't care.

Tobi would make him care. No matter what.

Tobi suddenly crossed his arms, chanting a spell.

"Rise, sword of destruction. Release thy seal and destroy all of those I choose." As Tobi chanted, a black magic circle appeared underneath him. The hilt of a sword emerged from the ground, the power surging from it black. "Lend me your power, Jigoku No Hooken!" (Hell's Phoenix Sword) Tobi pulled the blade from its floating position and swung it in the direction of Zeref. In response, Zeref was knocked away.

The first thing on Tobi's mind was that his cancer might kill him for using this spell.

The second thing was that he hoped Kagura was having better luck then he was.

Suddenly, Tobi swung his arm again, this time causing Zeref to fly upwards. Tobi followed, pulsating flames from the soles of his shoes so he could fly.

"What is your name?" Zeref asked as the two glared at each other.

"Tobi Asher."

"Asher!?" Zeref looked at Tobi like he was crazy. What was so crazy about his last name?

"You don't know, do you? Asher is the last name of of Pendulum Asher, the only mage capable of killing Achnologia."
