Chapter seven

Kimberley’s POV

Thank god it’s Saturday! The last couple of weeks have flown by and thinking back I realise how everything has changed. When I first got here I felt exited but mostly scared to be honest. It’s never easy to start over especially if you’re not sure whether it’s the right thing to do. But things couldn’t have gone better. Greeting an elderly couple as I run by I sum up the things I’ve gained since I moved here. There’s Nicola and Davy of course, who have been amazing. Me and Nic got even closer since that night and I really value her friendship. And Davy, well he’s just lovely Davy. He was so excited when he got the role of Peter, I think he even cried a little.

Well, the story is really great to be honest. Can’t wait to preform it next week, although I wonder if  my parents will come to watch. I also asked my younger sister Amy, but she wasn’t sure if she could make it. I hope she does, I’d love to show her my progress. And what better way to do that as leading female role. Yes, I got the part. Mister Green was right and it really upped my confidence.

Nadine noticed too. She has been a great flatmate, I could’ve ended up with much worse. Although she hasn’t been home much lately. Apparently she’s got a new boyfriend or something. I didn’t get to meet him yet and to be honest, Nads has been a little secretive about it, I’m not sure why.

Talking about people who’re confusing me. Cheryl has been completely ignoring me. Since our not so successful exercise trip I haven’t spoken to her. I texted her a couple of times, nothing out of the ordinary. I just asked how she’s been, things like that. Yet, she didn’t respond. At first I thought it had something to do with what I told her. Maybe she found me strange or something, revealing personal information to a girl I barely know. I even worried that Nicola or maybe Nadine had told her about my sexuality and it scared her off. Wouldn’t be the first time unfortunately. But then I learned she had been ignoring Nicola too. Nic was quite upset about it since she’s her neighbour and they were becoming good friends. She skipped our Sunday hangover get-togethers too. I felt sad about it but Nadine reassured me I had nothing to do with it so I hope that’s true. I guess I simply misjudged her.

As I exit the bathroom and make my way to the living area, I’m surprised to find Sarah chatting away with Nadine. Noticing me they stop talking and an uncomfortable looking Nadine greets me before getting up to leave to room. Sarah shoots her another look before she snaps out of it. ‘Hi you.’ She smiles widely. ‘Where have you been lately?’

‘Oh, you know. Planning another robbery.’ I joke, crashing on the couch.

‘Good to hear.’ Sarah laughs. ‘Listen up, I need to tell you something important. So you better pay attention.. I’m dead serious.’

Frowning I sit up straight, trying to figure out what it could be.

Clearing her throat she looks at me sternly. ‘Those hangover Sunday have become a disgrace ever since you decided to lock yourself up during the weekends. You better join us at the Club tonight or you are banned missus.’

Realising it’s a joke I pull a face. ‘I’ve been rather busy you know. I had to practice.’

‘On a Saturday night?’

‘I want to save my voice. I can’t take any risks.’ I shrug.

‘Will you stop the crap? We don’t expect you to preform I Will Always Love You, just join us for some drinks. Besides Nicola hasn’t been missing out so no excuses!’

‘Ok, I guess you’re right.’ I chuckle. ‘But I still might give you that serenade you know.’

‘Oh, please do. I’m sure Nadine would love it since she’s bringing her lovely boyfriend.’ Sarah says, emphasising on lovely as Nads walks back in. ‘Kimberley will be joining us too.’
