Chapter thirteen

Cheryl’s POV

‘Cheryl?’ It’s late in the afternoon when Kimberley suddenly wakes me up from a deep sleep. Rubbing my eyes I sit up to take a look around the room, smiling when I realise it’s Kimberley’s. As I see her walk towards me I lay down again, massaging my temples. It has been another crazy night at Nadine’s alright. Even though I drank quite a bit, the memories are vivid. Especially the ones with Kimberley.

‘Ah, I didn’t mean to scare you.’ She sits down on the bed, looking down on me with a smile.

Squinting my eyes I sleepily smile back. ‘That’s ok, what time is it?’

‘It’s almost two.’ She replies, taking my hand loosely after I pull the white sheets up a bit.

As I link our fingers I move my head to get comfortable, yawning in the process. ‘I’m so tired.’ I moan.

‘Yeah, me too.’ Kimberley giggles, probably at my hangover face. ‘You can stay in my bed if you want.’

‘Will you join me?’ I cheekily ask, giving her a wink.

‘I can’t. Actually, I came to see if you were awake so I could say goodbye.’

My face drops a bit, disappointed that she’s leaving me. ‘Where are you going?’

‘I’m going to visit Amy, my sister, you remember her right?’

I nod.

‘When I phoned her the other day she asked if I wanted to come over and catch up a bit.’ Kimberley continues. ‘I’m probably going to sleep over at her place tonight so I’m afraid I won’t see you then, but you’ll be here for our hangover Sunday right?’

‘Yeah, I will.’ Smiling I sit up and give her arm a pull, signalling her to come closer. As she does so our lips meet for a longing kiss which is broken too soon. ‘I really have to go.’ Kimberley sighs apologetic. ‘I’ll see you tomorrow ok?’

I stroke her cheek before she gets up from the bed. ‘Have fun with you sister babe, and make sure you tell me all about it on Sunday.’

With a big smile on her face she waves her goodbyes, and when she closes the door behind her I kind of miss her already.

As I get up from the bed to put on my clothes I look around her room. Everything is put away neatly on shelves or in cabinets. Curiously I study a little cabinet filled with different kinds of perfumes and I decide to spray one on myself. I’m sure Kimberley won’t mind. Looking around some more, my eyes catch a shelve with various photo’s placed on it. Picking up the one closest to me I study their faces. There’s Kimberley in a pink summers dress holding on to a younger looking girl, who looks quite a bit like her. There is also an older girl and those must be her parents. They’re all standing in a garden in front of a big house and I wonder if that’s where she lived. Putting it back I grab another one. This must be her with some other students. They’re dressed in a dark blue school uniform and Kimberley is squatting on the floor in front of the others. It’s funny how she stands out on all the pictures. But that could be just me of course.

‘Oh, and this must be her aunt.’ I speak up, looking at a picture of Kimberley with a sassy looking woman. They’re holding up a glass of wine with dramatic faces. Of all the people I saw on those picture the aunt looks like to fun one. Trying to remember what Kimberley told me about her family I get dressed and leave the room.

‘Oh, hello miss. I’m looking for a friend of mine. She was here the last time I checked but I guess she must have left. Her name is Nico….’
