Chapter twenty

Kimberley’s POV

‘I really like your sister.’ Cheryl breaks the comfortable silence between us.

We’ve been driving for a while now since we dropped Amy off at her university and I didn’t mind the silence as I’m having a bit of an hangover. Therefor I’ve spend most of our time together in this car humming softly along with the radio and thinking about a lot of random stuff. Cheryl probably doing the same.

‘Aw, she really liked you too.’ I smile at her before turning back to watch the road.

‘Did she tell you?’ Cheryl asks, placing her hand on my leg, stroking it gently whilst watching me. Nodding I check a road sign. We shouldn’t be far now.

‘She did, and it means a lot to me that you two get along so well.’ I confess, dropping my hand on hers to squeeze it gently.

My answer seems to please her as she continues with her thoughts again in silence, occasionally looking at me.

‘Chez…’ I speak up after a while. ‘Look, there it is.’ Smiling I point out the hotel in the distance.

It’s nicely hidden away in the woods and even though you’d probably expect something castle-like-looking with these surroundings it’s nothing like that. It’s quite the opposite actually since it’s a fairly young and modern looking building, providing a lot of luxury if the magazine article was right.

‘Oh my god, Chez.’ We’re standing in the lift skimming through our options. ‘There’s a spa.’

‘Let me see.’ Leaning forward I point at the pictures, resulting in admiring words from Cheryl. ‘Is there time to go?’ She asks.

Shrugging I signal her this is our floor and getting out we walk down the long corridor. ‘We’ll see ok? This should be our room.’

Cheryl claps her hands when I open the door, revealing our stay for tonight.

Entering I look around, instantly admiring the warm but light greyish and ivory colours and it’s luxury.

There’s a massive king-size bed, a seating area with a comfortable grey sofa and an entire wall is made out of windows, allowing a wonderful view of the woods. Smiling I agree with the article that things can be modern and romantic as I imagine the room at night. I’m sure it’ll be even more beautiful with all the candles lit and hearing Cheryl’s excited screams the bathroom should be pretty good as well.

‘Kimba come look.’

My mouth almost drops when I enter the big bathroom. It’s completely done in black and white, with a shower for two and a huge tub. Which Cheryl is standing in front of at the moment.

‘Let’s try this one first.’ And already unzipping her jacket she smiles excitedly.

Chuckling I grab her hands to stop her. ‘Let’s have dinner first ok? I’m starving.’

She smiles at me, moving her hands to hold onto mine. ‘Alright, but we’ll do the tub after!’ Widening her eyes to show she’s serious before she kisses me softly. And for a moment I wish I wouldn’t have brought up my dinner plans, realising I’ll have to leave those lips alone for a while and that’s not why I brought her here after all.

Chuckling I watch Cheryl as she practically stuffs her face with chips. I can’t say it’s very charming but I like it that she’s able to be herself around me. To be honest, I’m quite sure she pretty much always is. Cheryl doesn’t strike me as someone who pretends just for the occasion. I love that about her, even though I think it would be easier for her if she knew when to shut up from time to time. Chuckling at the thought of her passionate opinions about pretty much everything, I take a bite from my cooked fish. I see Cheryl smile at me before washing away her chips with some wine, turning her attention away from her food.
