Chapter sixteen

Kimberley’s POV

‘Oh, for *Duck*’s sake….’ I curse, unable to reach my alarm clock without getting up. Sighing loudly I push myself up and grab the bloody thing to silence it. The screen displays an ungodly hour and I probably would’ve gone back to sleep if I didn’t remember what day it was. I’m supposed to pick Cheryl up in an hour and a half and I need to get ready ASAP. Jumping out of bed I hurry to the bathroom, stopping midway to grab my head in agony. Moaning I curse myself for drinking too much last night. What the hell were you thinking Kimberley? You knew it would come back to haunt you.

Opening the bathroom door I prepare myself for the worst before I face the mirror.

‘Oh, no….’ I look at myself in pure shock. ‘No, no, no.’ I’m a complete mess. My make-up from the night before is smeared all over my face, my eyes seem barely open and my hair is everywhere. I need some damage control and fast. I need to look my very best today.

After turning off the shower I quickly dry myself and decide to work down the checklist I’ve just made up. Since my face will need the most work it’s best to start with that. The hair will come later. I apply some soft make-up to cover up for last night’s sins, trying to find a nice balance between sexy and natural. After the final touches I take a step back to analyse my work. Pretty good if I may say so myself.  With my new found confidence I dry my hair, and after I’m satisfied I head back to my room.

Thank god, I already chose my outfit yesterday. My favourite denim’s, a white vest and some leather boots will do just fine for today activities. About that, I best make sure Cheryl isn’t wearing the wrong shoes. Don’t want her to hurt her feet or anything. Right…. I grab my mobile to check the time and I realise I really need to hurry now. I quickly run through the apartment, collecting everything that’s needed for today before closing the front door behind me. There are precisely 30minutes left to get to Cheryl’s.

‘Hiya.’ I smile broadly when she opens the door, greeting me with a dimpled smile. For a moment I contemplate on whether I should greet her with a kiss but she has already turned away from me.

‘Hang on a minute yeah?’ She shouts from down the hall. ‘Need to get my jacket.’

Waiting I suddenly realise I should check her footwear. ‘Cheryl?’

‘Yes, babe?’

‘Are you wearing heals today?’

‘No, why?’  When she re-appears at the door, my eyes scan her body. She’s wearing a small brown leather jacket with a hoody, dark jeans and black and white Adidas sneakers.

‘Those are perfect, I was just checking. Can’t have any sore feet on our date now can we?’ I smile contently, signalling her we can go.

She quickly adjust her ponytail before putting on a cap. Tapping my nose with her finger she passes me. ‘Well if you we’re planning on exercising , you can forget about it.’

Giggling I follow her towards the car. ‘Don’t worry, I would hate to see you covered in mud again.’

‘Oh, please.’ Cheryl laughs. ‘You liked that one me, I could totally tell.’

‘Ok, you can open your eyes now.’ I chuckle, as I clumsily help Cheryl out of the car. She removes the hands from her eyes and I take a step to the side, allowing her a full view.

I immediately begin to smile when her jaw drops and her eyes widen.

‘Oh…my…god, Kimberley.’ She turns to me, still a bit shocked.
