Chapter eighteen

Kimberley’s POV

Apologizing I try to keep my balance as I tip-toe myself a way through the crowd. It’s been five minutes since Amy’s train arrived and she should be waiting for me somewhere close, if only these people would move a bit and I could see.

‘Sorry.’ I shout, turning and almost falling over a man’s suitcase.

Ignoring his sneers I keep on going until I’m at the centre of the platform. But no Amy in sight.

‘Oh no….’ I mutter, stretching my neck to see if she’s anywhere near. This is no use.

Moving towards a bench I decide to wait until most people have left, hoping Amy’s smart enough to stay here. And yes, after a few minutes I see a small stature at the end of the platform. Excited I get up from the bench and move myself towards her. Amy is seated on her big suitcase, playing with her mobile. Probably zoned out like she usually is.

‘Hey, sweetie.’ I smirk, hugging her abruptly so she lets out a shriek.

‘Are you mad?’ She hugs me back as she recognizes me. ‘I’ve been waiting for ages.’

Breaking away I take her suitcase, directing her towards the main hall. ‘Yeah, sorry. It was really crowded. Looked like you brought the whole country with you on that train.’ I smirk.

Sighing dramatically she adjusts her scarf. ‘The entire journey was a pain, I’ll tell you that much. Couldn’t find a seat anywhere and now my feet are killing me.’

‘There was a reason why I offered to pick you up, you know.’ I smug as we leave the station to walk towards my car.

‘I can look after myself Kim, besides you drive like a granny.’

Faking a shocked expression I shake my head. Bigmouth.

During our short drive home I’ve got the pleasure of Amy constantly babbling away about everything. As I try to follow her stories I can’t help but laugh.

‘What’s so funny?’ She asks, turning to me.

‘Do you remember when we used to sneak out of our bedrooms when we were younger. And we’d talk for hours on end?’

Amy starts to laugh loudly. ‘Yes of course! God, did we ever sleep at all?’

‘I can’t remember, but probably.’ I reply laughing as I watch the light turn green.

‘You know what.’ Amy slaps my arm. ‘We should do that again, tonight! For old time’s sake.’

Putting up my hand I wait for her to high-five me. ‘That’s what I’m talking about sis.’

‘Goody.’ Amy claps her hands. I love how she gets all excited about pretty much everything.

‘But…’ She continues. ‘What else do have in store for me Kim? I’ve got high expectation after what you’ve told me.’

‘Aah, but of course.’ I reply with a snobby accent. ‘ Well, we’re having dinner first, with my flatmate Nadine. And since it’s a Saturday I thought we’d go out, have a drink, shuffle on the dance floor a bit.’

‘What?’ Amy turns to me, pulling a face. ‘You do not drink nor shuffle.’

‘As a matter of fact I do now.’ Defending myself I ignore her laughing.

‘Well I’ve got to see that one.’

‘You will, and besides you’ll get to meet my other friends too. Some of them are coming over tonight for a few drinks before heading out. Try not to embarrass me too much ok?’
