What Whoever Said:
"Oh yes, the past can hurt, but the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it."
-Rafiki, The Lion King
What I Say:
Sigmund Freud believed that a person's childhood profoundly affected them on a psychological level. That is true to an extent. If someone runs away from the past, it can make the situation even worse and cause other problems, some of which could be mental. It's hard, but we should try to learn something from every mistake and every bad memory. In the end, it will make us better people. Also, I like how this quote first acknowledges that the past can be painful; it doesn't sugarcoat things. Then, it goes on to present two choices because in reality, whether or not we face our past is our choice. It is a decision we consciously or unconsciously make.
