What I Say:
I don't have much to say about this one. To me, it simply means that determination is powerful. The quote does strangely bring this scenario to mind, though: It's an unimportant soccer (aka football) game or not even a game, a scrimmage. The super-duper talented player is going through the motions as he or she slowly dribbles the ball towards the opponents' goal. Closer. Closer. Then, out of nowhere, a try-hard defender from the other team steals the ball and scores a goal instead. Team 1: 0 Team 2: 1 The point is the defender is less talented, but giving it 110% 100% of the time. Honestly, I doubt that's what Ferdinand Foch had in mind, but that image is really stuck in my head . . .
