I was hoping to avoid Allie as long as possible, but I knew as I sat in my room and the doorbell was repeatedly rang that my time was up. I couldn't hide. So I reluctantly dragged myself to the door, using it as a shield as it slowly creaked open. As soon as it moved a cyclone of rainbow colored wrath swirled into my living room, it's bony fists flying in crazy directions. I cringed inwardly, knowing the hardship I was about to go through. Just as I thought this the door slammed, revealing a livid looking Allie and a guilty looking Caden. Early in the week I had told him what I had seen, and also about my plan to avoid confronting it at all costs. Being one of my best friends he was trustworthy, well in some situations apparently. He mouthed the words I'm sorry before Allie stormed up towards me, her heavily lined eyes glaring severely.
"Where the hell have you been!?" She yelled making me cover my ears at her decibal. I shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly, not meeting her eyes.
"Nowhere," I mumbled lowly.
"Nowhere!? How the hell could you just dissapear off the face of the planet and then not call me! Do you have any idea how worried I was? I thought you were dead or...kidnapped! Or..." At she kept listing off possible perils I started to feel angry. She thought she had the right to be angry with me for not telling her something? The hypocrite. And here she was acting all concerned for my well-being. She definitely was not concerned when she was sucking that girls face off. The rage inside me built until I couldn't take her knattering anymore. "And another thing-"
"Shut up!" I yelled making both her and Caden raise their eyebrows in surprise at my unusally loud actions. I glared as I stood, my muscles rigid with anger. I gave Caden a look, trying to make him leave. When he finally got it he jumped up suddenly, his brown curls bouncing with the movement.
"Well I suppose I should be going." He gave us a cheeky grin and opened the front door, turning back to say one, irritating sentence. "Play nice ladies." With that he slammed the door, leaving us alone with the quiet of our breathing and the empty echoes of my house. I turned to her, a deflated look on my face, all the anger suddenly sapped out of me.
"How dare you," I stared at her disbelievingly, my eyes narrowed. "How dare you lecture me on keeping secrets." Panic seeped into her face before a cold, calm look quickly resurfaced.
"I don't know what you are talking about." She stated blankly, examining her nails.
"Seriously? You are going to play that game?" I looked at her, my eyes watering in disapointment. She tries to keep her mask intact but I could see her struggling as she saw me start to cry. She reached her hand toward me, her face softening almost completely.
"Li, I-I I'm sorry you're my best friend and I-"
"Not anymore." I cut her off my tone harsh. I looked at her face, devastation now filling her features. She tried to cling to me and embrace me in a hug and for a second I let go, allowing myself to hug her back, and revel in her warmth. But I quickly pushed her away, making hurt wash through her pretty eyes. "I'm tired of it." I sunk into the couch rubbing my temples. "All of the fakeness, the meaness, mocking other people, I don't like it. This person that you want me to be is not who I want." I put my head in my hands tears flowing slowly down my cheeks now. "I don't even know who you are anymore but from what I'm seeing I don't know if I want any part of it." I noticed a desperate look start to appear in her face. Her nails were biting into her palms, breaking skin from the pressure.
"So you, leaving me, I promise I try and-?" I shook my head in pity.
"No Allie, I don't know if I can forgive you I'm sorry." As I stared into her eyes the weird look burned brighter as tears streamed down her face, almost glowing in her pupils. She leaned closer, her breath mingling with my own. And with a shocking press forward she gently closed the gap, lightly connecting her lips to mine.
