Chapter 8

From that night onwards, Gally hasn't let me out of his sight. He wakes me of a morning, eats meals with me, works by my side, stays with me when we have free time and watches over me until I go to sleep. It is getting extremely annoying. I haven't seen Newt in, what feels like, forever.

Luckily, the box is coming up with the new Greenie and Gally's gone over to help. I couldn't be bothered to run, so I just sit down and enjoy the show.
"You not going to take a look?" Chuck says as he sits next to me.
"Nuh, too lazy." We both laugh and watch the box open. They pull out a boy with dark hair. From what I can see, he is well built.

Suddenly, the boy is up and running. He's good, I think to myself, he could be a Runner. I spoke too soon. The boy faceplants.
"Nice one Greenie, 10/10!" I shout out. The others look at me, then back to the Greenie and burst out laughing. I notice Newt is still looking at me. I check on Gally, who's busy with the new Greenie, and gesture for Newt to follow me.

We walk to the Watch Tower and climb to the very top, sitting back from the edge to make sure Gally can't see us.
"Do you think we're safe?" Newt asks, wrapping an arm around my waist.
"Yeah, I've never been here before so he won't look here." I smile up at him. We sit together and watch the Glade. The Greenie, whom is quite good looking, is getting a tour from Alby.
"I should probably go introduce myself." Newt says as he gets up. "Bye, Love." He kisses me on the forehead and makes his way down to Alby and the Greenie.
