It was pitch black in the Griever Hole. The only light coming from Teresa's torch. We help Thomas up as he groans in pain.
"The computers over there." I yelled, pointing down the small tunnel. "We'll keep watch, hurry up and put the words in!" Teresa nodded and went to the computer. Thomas, Chuck and I stood a few meters away, keeping our eyes on the Griever Hole entrance. As she and Thomas spoke to each other, there was a loud bang from above. Drop the bass, I thought. Then decided now wasn't the time for whatever that thought was.
A Griever fell down into the hole. I instinctively pushed Chuck behind me and Thomas did the same to me. He yelled for Teresa to keep typing as he rushed at the creature with his spear. The creature was swinging its needles around wildly, and even though we were further away from it than Thomas, I still turned around to make sure Chuck was okay. That's when I noticed The panic across Teresa's face. I rushed over to her.
"What's wrong?"
"It won't let me enter the last word." She types it in to show me and nothing happens. We turn to call Thomas over who had killed the Griever he was fighting. Teresa starts showing him the problem when Chuck calls out to us. Another Griever was coming through the hole. I ran over and pulled Chuck to us. I held him against me like an overprotective mother. Thomas and Teresa started bickering like an old married couple, but all I could do was stare at the creatures slowly getting closer.
"Hurry up and do something!" I screamed at them.
"Maybe you should just push that button." Chuck pointed to a spot near the floor. Teresa and Thomas knelt down to investigate it. We'd all completely forgot about the Grievers, until one grabbed Thomas. Another was coming for Chuck with blades flying wildly. One long blade was only an inch away from hitting Chuck, but I jumped between them. I felt as the blade sliced across my stomach.
"PUSH!" Thomas screamed. Everything fell to silence after Teresa finally pushed the button. Further down the tunnel came the sound of a door sliding open. I looked at the others then down to my stomach. The pain was excruciating, but the cut itself wasn't that deep. I pushed through the pain and hugged Chuck, Teresa did too.
"You did it, Chuck." We both say. Thomas got up and joined the hug too.
"What about the others?" Teresa asked, looking to the hole. Suddenly my heart dropped and all I could feel was panic again. Newt. There was a small bang and someone fell through the hole. Minho. But where's Newt? There was another small bang and I was hit with a wave of relief. I let go of Chuck and ran to Newt. We collided into a big hug and he held me tight with all the strength he had left. Tears of happiness streamed down my face. I'll let these fall, I thought to myself.
"I'm so bloody happy you're okay." He says as he kisses me. We move to the others as more boys fall through the hole. Not many are left. Only half. My heart aches for the boys that didn't make it. We can finally leave. We all headed for the door that we heard open earlier. The door seemed to have ended in a slide and one by one we all went down. After Newts turn it was mine. The slide was very steep and oily. The shouts of the other Gladers echoed all throughout it. The slide turned in different ways and I eventually caught up to Newt while we were still falling.
Suddenly, I was flung out of the slide and I landed right on Newt.
"Sorry, Newtie." I said, rolling off of him before Teresa could land on me. Newt got up and reached out his hand to help me. We stood and I hugged him again, still relieved. Then we looked around the room we had landed in. I took a step back once I notice the window in front of us. Many men and women watching us. I gripped onto Newts hand. The Creators. Thomas and Teresa had come out from the slide by is and they too were standing back from the wall.
The Creators continued to stare at us. As we did to them. No one moved. That is until Minho started yelling at them. I recoiled at how loud his voice was. Before anyone could plan what to do, there came a loud beeping noise. Everyone looked to Thomas for answers, but all he did was shrug. Then our attentions were turned to a door. It swung open and the beeps stopped.
Two people had entered. One was a woman. An adult, not a teenager like the rest of us. The other had a hood on. But they were clearly male.
This can't be good.
